I am trying to decide between the two sanders...Help  :'(
I have lots of doors in my house to refinish and I am leaning torwards the RS 2 but I allready own a LS 130 and a full range of grits for it??
I checked out the RTS at Woodcraft today and it seemed ok once the vac was tuned in.

Anyone who owns or has tried one or both have any comments.
Thanks in advance.

i would go for the ETS 150/3  with the 3mm it gives a smooth finish.  you already have the straighline unit that can do profiles.  i went to the fein multi tool to get more profiles.    use you 150 in the corners and the 150 on the large surfaces.

I have both and between the two I would go with the RS2. The RTS 400 is not aggressive at all.

I would use the RTS 400 after using the RS2. Or use the RTS 400 on something that does not need much sanding in the first place.
If you have a lot of doors to do the RTS 400 is not the sander you are looking for. If you do go with the RS2, then come back with the LS 130, if you even need to.

The 150/3 is great, but you did not ask about it and it is tough to get into square corners.

What exact type of doors are you sanding?

Do you have to sand a finish off the doors?

They are vineered doors and yes some have stain and some have paint. I was going to use the RS2 or my ETS 125 for paint removal.
Is the RS 2 suited for paint removal? How does it do getting up to corners?

Thanks for the advice guys, I ordered up a RS 2E today. ;D
Looking forward to taking her for a drive :P

Good luck Paul!

Remember to go down to finer grits than you normally might, or even go over the doors with your ETS 125 for the final pass or two. If you get a pig tail problem try going back and forth only when getting to the finer grit papers.

The RS2 will blast through the stain while keeping the surface dead flat  so I feel you are making a nice choice.

The 150/3 is the best sander for a final sanding before finishing though(IMHO). You will need to practice to get the same types of results with the RS2.

Do you think my ETS 125 would be ok for final sanding or would it be more likely to take away from the flatness?
Pardon my rookie question but what's a pigtail look like?  :'(
Thanks

No it will not "take away from the flatness". Unless you sit in one spot and press really hard. You would almost have to do that on purpose. Just keep the sander moving.

If you could find a way of getting a 150/3 and the RS2 you will not be sorry. You can sell one when the job is done on eBay for only  a 20 - 40.0 dollar loss. You also have 30 days to return either one if you can not get the results you want. Or try one, if you do not like it return it and try another model. It's personal preference.

I will dig up a picture of a pigtail scratch.

My RS 2E I ordered from the Festool Junkie came today ;D
Haven't had time to try on a project yet but I did take her for a test drive.
This is one smooth powerhouse 8)
I can see why this is referred to as the Festool Cadillac.

I also went to Woodcraft and picked up a ETS 150/3 again. I had one for a time but tool money being a little short at the time I traded it in towards a RO150.
This is as many have stated the smoothest RO sander out there.

WHAT A SWEET COMBO  ;D ;D ;D ;D
