Rules for Festool Dealers

Hi Guys

This is a Dealers perspective on your dilemmas. I have both a showroom and an internet company in the UK.

The Festool distributors are selected by their professionalism and commitment to the Festool brand so I would expect nothing else but polite and professional comments and behavior from any of them. All Festool Dealers here in the UK have the same pricing restrictions etc. that are in the US and that helps the "Professional Dealers" shine above the dealer out for a quick buck.

The answer to where to buy your tools from is easy! Buy them from the dealer who is prepared to show you the tool, demonstrate it, holds it in stock and is knowledgable about the tools. This is the dealer who is committed to you the craftsman and wants to help.

I believe that this forum is here to inform, have some fun and should not be used to try to solicit business directly.

Hey Matthew,

I'm delighted that powertoolworld's participating, but it does bring up a question:  Should Festool dealers outside North America be identified just like their NA equivalents?

I'm inclined to say yes, but not emphatically.  I like an indication of a user's professional association with Festool.  If someone were to argue that these are "foreign" dealers, then I'd point out that Bob, Shane, and the other US dealers are foreign to the Canadians.

I wonder where Anthony Simmons of Ideal in Oz is?  Did he make the transition from Yahoo?

That's a good question.  He was not registered with the new forum, so I sent him an invitation.

I agree.  So far, everything has gone very nicely with the dealers, and it's terrific having you here.  In fact, I'd like to figure out a way to get more dealers involved, and see if we can have more of an international representation from them.  After all, we have members here from all over the world.  But on the company representation side, it's mostly been Festool USA.

Matthew, where can I purchase additional green stars?  ;D  And, can I get them in Festool Green?

Shane, and others,
Please notice the new system I am using in the group to identify various people.  I have done away with the stars, which were unpopular!  I also replaced the text of the "group."  Instead, I simplified the identification area by creating a simple "text graphic" that identifies you as a Festool Dealer, a Festool Employee, or a Forum Administrator or Moderator.  Lime green is used to identify Festool employees and Festool dealers.  Purple is used to identify forum administrators and moderators.

If you look at my name (at left) you'll see what I mean.  Here are three more examples of what I'm talking about:
Mr. Dealer
Festool Dealer

Mr. Company Guy
Festool Employee

Mr. Moderator
Moderator - General Discussions

Thanks,
Matthew

Hi Ned,

I did come over from the Yahoo group - but about the same time the group transitioned I begun to build my new shop (demo workshop), and it's been taking all my time. But I am just about finished and getting my head above water, so I have been popping back to the FOG over the last few weeks to find some interesting site and user developments.

I have to admit, when the FOG moved I did not like it as much as the old Yahoo group. But it's really come along, and is now much better the the old home. Good work Matthew!

Even the Rules for Festool Dealers is well thought out. I have no disagreements with any of the rules, seems best for everyone - keep up the good work. I hope to come back to online action soon and join the fun and take home some learnings from everyone.
