So to complement the Rustic Night stand and Dresser, I built a Rustic Platform Bed. Platform is the same rustic hickory ply, rails and legs are black walnut distressed with the 850 undulating head and the head board is barn wood . I used knock down hardware to attach the legs to the rails (yea I know, Im not going to mention it until some does).

I sprayed the bed (platform rails, legs) with GF Water base poly Enduro Var, the barnwood I did touch left it natural

Thanks for posting -- I'm actually on the hook to build a platform bed myself for someone and am trawling for ideas.  What type of KD hardware are you using?

The only KD hardware I used was for the legs. To attach them to the bed frame as I made the legs in a V config. Used bolts and caps. The caps so I wouldnt have a bolt or nut inside the frame. I used pocket holes and dominos to attach the rails. No glue on the dominos so I can remove the rails if needed for moving the bed by simply unscrewing them .

I got them from Rockler

Hope this helps
