Hi all
Does anyone have any experience of using the Rustofix BMS 180 brushing machine as I have a little project on the horizon and need a few pointers from all you Foggers!
  Cheers in advance
Gav.

I work in the marine industry and we have a client that requires sole boards of American White oak  with the textured distressed look ,these will then be oiled with Osmo protector then 3111 snow for a limed look then graphite tint for aged look then a top oil, probably matt finish.

I would think that would be perfect for the job. We have used it for cleaning and distressing beams. Also lot of high end interior joinery seems to like oak distressed then stained. Kinda like fumed oak but with grained look. It will open the grain lovely.

A small tip if you do use it. Make sure you run in one clean sweep and overrun the ends onto a sacraficial piece otherwise it can dip into the timber more on the ends. When finished up you can see the difference! Also be carefull when overlapping areas that you dont have the same effect.

If you can run the boards with it before fixing for the best finish.

I'd be interested in hearing more about how you do this with oak. I tried the Rustofix on oak and it only left scratches. My board was quarter sawn and had quite narrow fibres. I'm guessing it would be easier to get a weared look on [insert name of the other saw type, the one that leaves nice figures on an oak board instead of thin stripes].

I have a Rustofix waiting for a project. Couldn't resist buying it for 1/4 of the price after it being used on a tv show.
