I am looking to refinish my sailboat (27 feet) and was wondering what the best sandpaper was for sanding the fiberglass?  I have the RO90 and 125 sanders.

Also, if I do not get to refinishing it, I would like to wax it.  What do people recommend for doing this with Festool products?

Thanks!
Don

For waxing and polishing, many boaters turn to the Rotex 150 due to the surface area of a hull.
There is also the Shinex polisher, which is lighter than the 6""/150mm Rotex.
For sanding the fiberglass, I will let more informed people answer that question.

Not that I'm probably any more informed than leaky, but I'd go with Granat myself.

Great thanks for the info .. I am buying so Granat so will be ok.

As per the polishing though .. wish accessories are people using to wax and polish.

There are a couple threads here that had a ton of information in them regarding polishing and waxing gelcoat.  One of our members (Hasslefactor) documented the entire process of polishing her 28' sailboat.  Unfortunately she really documented it on Talkfestool and posted links here to those posts.  Those links no longer work.  RATS!.

But here is what you can accomplish:

Do not forget to apply a UV sealer over the polished fiberglass. Epoxy breaks down when exposed to UV. Several coats of a good marine varnish, paint or polyurethane with UV inhibitors should be fine.
