sanding disc compatability

Will festool 5" sanding disc's fit other 5" sanders. I have been looking at them but I have a pc sander.

The sandpaper (abrasives) , or the actual pad that attaches to the sander?

The sand paper. I have to sand my stair risers and was looking at the saphir or the granat.

They would attach to any hook and loop pad. Hole pattern will be different though. So if you are hooking to a vacuum I am not sure if they will line up?

Are you sanding finish , paint, or bare wood?

Which PC sander?  Do you know the sanding stroke size?

Iam sanding painted stairs with multiple layers. I have the pc 390k.

As Seth said, the discs will fit fine but the hole pattern will not line up, so you won't have any dust collection. If this is not important to you for this job, go ahead, but else you'd better get some paper that fit your PC sander.

Just buy a hole punch and add the holes you need. Sometimes I get paper with no holes if its a deal or something I cant get with the proper hole pattern.

Just use some existing paper with the proper hole alignment as the pattern. Place it over the paper you want to use and punch away.
