I've been on with this office for some time now but there's light at the end of the tunnel,
i still have a few bits to do including gilding the corbels the false shelve fronts on the secret door, handle, catches, radiator grilles etc etc etc,,its a long list ?? :)
i have motorized the secret door and the panel above the fire place for a tv (its fitted now)
the only things i didn't make was the corbels as 79 pounds each from andy thornton it didn't seem worth it

i hope the photos load up ok , I'm NO photographer but you should get the idea  :)

Pierre,

As you say, you might not be a photographer, but you certainly do it well enough to beautifully show off your magnificent craftsmanship and artistry.  That looks like the kind of office that anyone would be proud to work in and meet clients in.

I have two problems with this project.  The first is that I would get no work done.  I would be too busy admiring my space.  The second is that clients would think that I must charge too much to be able to work in such opulent surroundings.

Agree with Neill!  I saw the books on it and thought, "hmm, put the books in the other room" :)

Stunning work in all the details; Sapelé is a favorite, too

Absolutely Stunning!

Stand tall and walk proud!

thanks guys , I'll move them books in the morning  [laughing]
the guy who its for has has lots off meetings and wanted a room to "Knock the wind" out off whoever he is having a meeting with and left the rest to me  [scared]

my son says it was festool made it ,I just pulled the triggers !! (he's 15 what can i say,,i know nothing ! )

Thanks again,,there is some class work on this site

I agree with the rest, this is great work. Must be great to be able to make this kind of old fashiond high class work. Only the corbels quite stand out, they're too light.

no there's no set style i just sort of make it up as i go along,
I've been on holiday around France the last few years and i think when i get the gold leaf on it will look quite french ?? it must have been a subconscious thing  :)
for the doors i used linear actuators , there is one on the secret door i'm making one of the false book a switch, and two on the panel doors for the tv

Allright, good to see it's part of the plan.  [cool]

Beautiful work.  Did you do the finishing as well?  If so, what is it?

You did a awesome job.  It looks like a killer project. lets see the secret door opened up.

Dave

Yes i did the finishing its, becker acroma's pre cat lacquer, semi gloss, i also used there medium teak dye , i thinned it by 50% and a drop of green to kill the red in the sapele and also a drop of yellow too, i did about 30 samples to get the color,,, all put on with a fuji Q4

I have a video just on my phone of the door working, I'll have a go putting it on here

Awesome.  Very nice details.  That office should knock the wind out of everybody with exception of the Queen, maybe.  Again beautiful job.

That looks awesome. Nice tone and depth of color in the finish. Nice to hear it's not just me that makes multiple samples before they are happy with the color.
I have a Q4 as well, it's a nice unit, goes a bit slow but despite what others say about it you can get a great finish with it.
Thanks for posting.
Tim
