Love it.

But he could have painted it in Festool colors, and when is he showing off his XL model. [smile]

I agree with him, that we can at times be Festool 'snobs' on the FOG (I include myself here) and that using a Festool does not make us neccesarily more skilled, but it sure increases the level of enthusiasm when doing mundane tasks.  [eek]  [smile]

And speaking of the mundane, time to get off my . . . and get cracking.

That was pretty good, i have seen a couple of his videos before and thought his humor was lame but that cracked me up.

Frankly, I can't stand his videos. Cracking a joke at Festool owners might have been funny the first time, but he's been repeating the same nonsense for years now. I find him boring and unfunny.

Viewed his page once and vowed never to visit again. It might be funny to some, but I think he's a pompous a-hole who just wants to flame Festool - or any quality vendor. But he definitely has some butt-hurt for Festool.

He may be able to build a 'prototype' to prove a concept, but that's a far cry from building a tool that actually works, i.e. is accurate, dependable, repeatable, and actually useable. Sorry, Charlie.

No need to feed the troll by bumping up his page count.

I wonder if he is coming to the Festool Connect event? LOL.

Wannabe...but cain't!

Reminds me of the guys who really want a Mac, but trash it because they don't want to spend the $$, so they stick with Windoze $200 netbooks and constantly complain about how slow their machines are. Sheesh.

Das personen is eine prima ashloch!

Or....in Japanese... Sono otoko wa totemo baka desu ne!

Cheers,
Frank

What I found funny is I own sanders, vac, saw, domino ect, but not the hat and safety glasses. Lol, while he purchased both of those and biches about the tools. The thingamajig he made is cool, time is $ for me and I'd rather not waste a day+ and materials on something that won't get used, and isn't 1/100 of the real deal. To me he's just trolling.

Peter, didn't you hear?
Shane has invited him a a guest speaker on getting the most out of your . . . . . . . . .  and Festool souvenirs.  [eek]

Ha ha I tought it was funny we need to take people like him with a pinch of salt guys  it's how he makes his money on YouTube all his videos vids has some sort of controversy

Get a grip guys he is playing a part to make a living, besides the delivery which i agree can be a little hard to stomach the projects are really clever.
This forum is one of the best things the internet has made available but gee whiz some seem to get a little precious about their tools,I get it and love my tools but really they are just things and not worth getting worked up about.
He might not be your cup of tea but anyone who has a go and puts himself out there promoting woodworking in any way gets my vote.Go Stumpy!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're did this photo come from I never put it there

Saw this video a while back. Stumpy is clever and I like his ideas, but you could basically reduce any tool to a jig if you really wanted to. but the final result is something very cumbersome.

mortising is relatively easy but replicating the domino is a bit more tricky.

I think it's nice that he developes his own solutions.
But i've neither his woodworking capabilities nor his machinery.
So, i'll be using Festool for the time being..

It is not a bad thing to have your leg pulled from time to time but it is very important to be grown up about it and not take it to heart. The video needs to be much shorter in order to keep everyone's attention. I don't think that I will go out of my way to watch any others.

There is a very positive side that nobody has mentioned yet. One of the problems that we face these days is the lack of basic engineering skills and a general inability to improvise. His little Wiggle Machine design has some interesting, albeit poorly executed, ideas.

I can't wait for JMBFestool to create a thread on irony.

Indeed and for an example of some pretty cool engineering based alternatives, that mimic festool functionality for a shop based skilled engineer I'd recommend Mathias Wandel www.woodgears.ca I'd go so far as to say he's got a similar video style to yours Peter: informative, clear, impartial but not without a personal opinion or two and a sense of humour (with a healthy dollop of self depreciation) :)

I particularly like the marble machines --- pointlessly hypnotic!

A few days ago a fellow posted on SawmillCreek that his CT22 caught fire. He specifically tated it started in the bag but that did not keep someone from opining that it probably was due to a motor issue. No one suggested he contact Festool. I am sure Shane and his colleagues would be very interested in doing a post mortem but another poster suggested he post the story over here and we would try to convince him it was all in his imagination and never happened.

I thought about posting about contacting Festool and also that it was highly unlikely it started in the motor and migrated quickly to the bag because of the design but concluded no one would listen objectively. What's the use? Folks will poke fun at us or think we're elitists or whatever. I think we laugh at ourselves at a fairly healthy level around here and am willing to just shrug my shoulders. I get what this guy is doing and don't really have a problem with any of it. John Stewart makes a good living doing essentially the same thing with politicians and Fox News.
