Hi, I just purchased TSC 55 K and it comes with Fine tooth blade.  Is there recommending saw blade for additional purchase? Should I consider Universal blade and will it cover most cross cut and rip cuts of woods?

I don't own that saw, but I run Forrest combination blade in my SawStop Industrial saw. I use it for everything except long rips in thick dense wood.

If you do heavy duty rip cuts, I would add a rip blade.

I've owned the TS, the TSC, the HKC and now the TSC K model. For every one of those saws I used the fine blade and the Panther rip blade, I just flop between those items. The metal blade is also really nice if you need to cut aluminum.

Just remember that the tsc55 runs the thinner kerf blade than the regular ts55. Although the new ts55 being released soon will also run the new thinner kerf blade.

Thanks :) The Panther rip blade looks just like Rip Cut blade. Are there any differences between them?

Yes, I believe both are same with/without battery difference only.

I think it is a tooth count? 12 on the panther and maybe 16 on the regular rip

48T and Panther for me, too.

No. That’s why I bring it up. The battery runs a thinner kerf blade. The corded runs a thicker kerf blade. The new corded saw will run the same thinner kerf blade as the battery saws, but we aren’t allowed to offer them until March 25.

The 500463 was originally released for the HK/HKC saws which were aimed more for rough framing, that's where the 12 tooth count comes in.

The 205559 was released for the TSC K model and that comes with 16 teeth which is better for cabinet building. You could run either on the TSC K and there might be a time when the 12 tooth version would be good for a very dense/tough wood.

Interestingly enough, in the UK a 205550 blade was released and it's the 1.8mm kerf version but with 12 teeth...go figure and a 16 tooth version is NOT even offered.

Ah you are right. It's the new TS which isn't released yet :)

Looks like many are going with Panther. Then Panther for me too!

I bought the 16 tooth rip blade for my HK saw last year. I have yet to rip hardwood with it, but it goes through 2x pine like the proverbial hot knife in butter, and makes a planer-smooth cut doing it.

My experience with the TSC 55 has been that the Panther blade is not all that useful.  There's only been a small handful of times over the years where I wasn't able to get a decent rip with the 28tooth universal blade, even in 1 3/4 hardwood (provided blade was clean, which is always important when ripping).  The panther blade doesn't leave the best finish, however.  So even if I was forced to do an initial cut with it, I would always go back and clean it up with the 28 tooth blade.  At that point, I could have just as easily done the initial, rough cut in 2 passes with the 28tooth blade.

The 205559 has 12 teeth, not 16. I know this, because I just purchased one this week for my TSC from Hartville Hardware, and can confirm it has 12 teeth. I'm honestly not sure what the difference between the two blades is as they both appear to have the same kerf and tooth count. Maybe the angle or depth of the gullets are different?

Question for those who use the TSC 55 for cutting drywall: What blade are you using?

12t for ripping, 18t for sizing along the grain, 28t for cross cuts and 48t blades for manmade boards. Do not like thin blades and with the right sharp blade the power is good enough (ts55 240V).

Thanks for that... [smile]...that solves the mystery, that was all caused by incorrect info on the Festool USA website. I couldn't really understand why a 12 tooth was offered in the UK while a 16 tooth was offered in the US.  [tongue]

Here's a screen shot from 5/5/2021. I see the web page has since been updated however the URL has not.  [eek]
