SawStop CTS trigger due to "electrical noise"

The bandsaw is definitely a safer saw as kickback is rare. Mine is a lousy one, and I use it mostly for curve work or quick rough work. The downside is its dust collection sucks as compared to my SS PCS. I can work hours without wearing a mask with the SawStop.

In terms of efficiency, for what I do, I'd put the table saw at least 3x to 5x more efficient (e.g. I can joint on the table saw but not the bandsaw unless extra work is done).

Dust everywhere. Recently, I had to wear a mask for several hours!

This just reminded me that perhaps I should be doing more ripping this way. Just before the weekend, I was working on a small serving top and ripping white oak on the table saw. Turns out it had a lot of internal tension and started binding. So much so that I stopped the cut and shut off the saw, pulled it out and finished the cut with the track saw.

The bandsaw would have been less problematic because I've experienced lots of tension even while using the track saw.

A century ago all the stuff run through a tablesaw was natural wood. Even though they probably had a better selection of stock (to weed out stuff that likely had a lot of tension) bowing while ripping was still a risk, so fences stopped just after the front of the blade to allow the piece between the blade and fence to bow without binding.

When making the initial rip in natural wood (other than just trimming the edge, which should be done after dimensioning anyway) it’s best to use the bandsaw or track saw.
