Please note there will be scheduled maintenance on the forum tomorrow, Friday, November 12th at approximately 7:00pm EST. I expect the forum will be inaccessible for up to an hour during this time.

The expectation is that the improvements to the forum during this maintenance will improve performance, load time, bandwidth and reliability.

Shane,

I think that I speak for all the members and visitors out there - good luck!  [thanks] [thanks] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Peter

Just a reminder, the forum will be going offline in about an hour. If all goes well, it will be back online quickly and without any issues.

Should we all cross our fingers Shane?  [scared]  This isn't some kind of Moses parting of the Red Sea is it?  [eek]

Hope to see you all on the other side!  [big grin]

Yes, I am taking you all to the promised land. [big grin]

The forum is being moved to a new server. More capacity, more performance, more bandwidth.

Going offline in about 5 minutes.

If you see this message, you have successfully made it to our new server. My apologies that the migration took longer than expected. If you experience any issues, please let me know at sho@festoolusa.com.

Someone please reply so I know everything is working ok. Thanks!

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks, Kevin.

Please note that I am aware of a problem with the image gallery. Not sure it will get resolved tonight. I will post an update once the issue(s) are resolved.

If anyone has issues with the forum's functionality otherwise, please let me know.

Shane

Shane, one peculiar thing I've noticed is the dates seem to be missing from posts, they read: November , 2010.

Funny, Ken. We were on a shared server (meaning other websites were hosted on the same server) with a hosting provider. They keep the server since we didn't own it. I have moved the forum to the same web server we use for our other websites. It is a dedicated server (meaning we do not share it with other websites). The hosting provider offers better bandwidth and the server is much more robust. Furthermore, we don't have the storage capacity constraints we had before. Overall, it's just better.

Thanks, Brice. I hadn't noticed but it's fixed now. Just needed to make a modification to how the forum represents dates since we moved from a Linux server to a Windows server.

Very nice Shane! The response times are great. The last few days the old server was getting sloooooooooooow at times. Again thanks for all the hard work.

Greg

Ken,

I don't see it either.  If my memory serves me that was an add on and in the migration could have easily been missed.

Well, that sucked...  [eek] Guess I'll just crash the forum this morning.

Looks like the spell check issue is going to require some investigation on my part. My attempts to get it working didn't have very positive results.  Sorry.  I'll work on it over the weekend and get it working. In the mean time, we will see who isn't so good at spelling...  [smile]

Not being a morning person, that's what I get for monkeying with the forum before I'm really awake. Again, sorry about that.

Hey Shane,

Noon is just around the corner!  Hang in there.  You did a great job!

Peter

You could also use the GM philosophy - "It's not a problem; it's a feature."

[big grin]

And spell check seems to be working on this end.
