Here's a picture of a screen porch that I finished in November.  It was a really fun project since everything - the rafters, etc. are all exposed.  We used hand drive stainless nails and nail sets not to mar the surfaces.  I use the domino for building screen panels.  For the door I had to deepen the mortises with a drill and chisel since I don't have an XL.  What a difference in time!

That window on the roof angle in the gable  is something I have never seen. Nice looking porch.

The stainless steel cables are railing material that we used for collar ties.  The gables have a lot of structure and hopefully the two cables are enough to hold the mid-span of the outside wall plumb.  The clients wanted as open a space as possible.

Sparktrician is correct that the window is a detail mostly seen on older NE homes, but this one is perhaps 20 yrs old.  I don't think you'll find a manufacturer that recommends it for an operable double hung unit, but it is part of the Vermont vernacular.
