Seeking feedback & suggestions in order to deal with a BIG GOOF that I just made

Basically my #2 suggestion above. Hope it works out for you!

I thought that the idea was mine but I now see that it was yours.  :-[  Thanks Harry and I am sorry not to have acknowledged you earlier.

Actually Frank, in my head, it was 'heavier and more elaborate'.

I think your version will look much cleaner in the end than what I was thinking.  [thumbs up]

Frank:
How will you deal with the difference in width between the rails (upper and lower frame) and stiles (narrower sides)? Visually the top and bottom rail/frame of each side of the shade will be heavier.

Tim, I might not  understand the point you are making.

Let me show you a photo I took today after I cut the bevels on the other side of the frames.  The photo ishows two sides of the frame with the glass temporarily in place:

Now let me draw on the photo to simulate where the walnut strip will be placed:

Is your concern that the walnut insert will look slightly wider at the bottom than it does at the top?

I think it looks really sharp with the walnut.  If you were intending to have less attention to the frame and all of the attention on the glass, go with a more subtle matching wood instead of the walnut.

Will the walnut-strip fix lead to design changes in the lamp post and base?

Frank:
Ken said it best. That really was my point. Pure esthetics really.

Good question.   [thumbs up]

Yes, I expect that I will place a bit of walnut on the base and, perhaps, on the post.

Frank,

You are amazing.  First, you goof.  Then you publicly admit it.  Then you ask for help with ideas publicly.  And handle the responses.

THEN YOU DO THIS BASED ON THE RESPONSES! (I meant to shout)

Maybe your goof was the best thing ever in my opinion.  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

You are always the inspiration!

She will love it.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement Peter.  I am very grateful for all the help that I received here and on two other woodworking forums.  It's good to know that I am never alone when a problem happens on one of my projects.
