I have the Makita SP6000J track saw which came in the MacPac classic systainer IV that Makita designed. I hated this systainer as it is made cheaper than the Tanos version and is a pain to unlatch and latch with t-locs. I moved the Makita track saw into a t-loc sys IV. I then had the empty MacPac, what to do? I picked up a Senco PC1010N on clearance for $45 from Home Depot. After reviewing a couple of threads here on the FOG I decided to fit it in the systainer.
This is my journey of the project. I wanted the compressor to fit in the systainer flat on the rubber feet and be fully enclosed. I did not want to have to pop the lid for any reason. Everything will have access outside the systainer.
The MacPac systainer definitely required some clearance modification. I had to shave down the 2 middle vertical rear ribs. I also had to remove a circular portion at each front corner of the MacPac squared off inside to clear the air tank and allow the compressor to sit flat on the bottom rubber feet. Once that was done the compressor fits right in.
I also took the liberty of drilling holes in each of the 4 corners in the open spaces of the MacPac systainer. These will give 360* venting for the compressor.
I tracked down and located a retractable cord reel for the project that would work. It fits perfectly. I have also decided to add a computer fan to utilize the extra plug on the retractable cord reel. This will easily keep the compressor from building up heat.
I am currently searching for an option to recess the power cord end inside of the footprint of the systainer. I am also trying to decide if the power cord would be best to exit the side or rear of the systainer.
I will keep updating this thread as I move along with this build. Your advice or ideas is much appreciated. Give me your feedback.
