Service, this time from Makita

A happy story:
I had my Makita multitool picked up by the product specialist from Makita, at my house today  [blink].
I had a mishap sending it in earlier, and it took over two weeks to get it back, only to receive it from the (authorised) dealer who probably had addressed another service center to look at it (they didn’t bother to read the service note apparently, as the tool worked perfect). So they had just tested it, and found it ok... The deal was that Makita’s own technicians where to service it as there was another issue Makita wanted to look at, and this was the reason for sending it in, something the dealer completely overlooked. I had even given them the name of the service technicians name with Makita who prompted me on the phone to send the tool to him.

When I called Makita again, they where baffled, prompted the specialist himself to pick it up at my home. They are sorting the (lack of) service at the dealership, because Makita here has a 48 hour turnaround service. And my tool? It’s probably going back to Japan for assessment. Most likely I’ll receive a new tool within a few days, although I have stressed them that it is not critical to me. To top it off, this is one of the most inexpensive tools they have, but the service and back up didn’t differ from having been one of their most expensive tools. Amazing  [smile]
