Yes, shiny pumpkins!

My wife is responsible to make table decorations at a ladies event. She plans a Thanksgiving theme. Yesterday, we carefully selected 6 nearly identical pumpkins. Today, she wants to make them shiny.

I’m guessing a clear high gloss spray.

I obviously need help here!

The UK isn't known for Pumpkin carving, but I have grown them in the garden before.
May I suggest warm soapy water to remove soil and dirt, then household spray furniture polish?
(I recommend you practice on a substandard specimen first).

Regards
Bob

When I was young we used to cover a cleaned pumpkin with wax and polish it until it shined. Not sure if that still is how they do it though...

Shellac maybe?

That way if someone wanted to use the pumpkins later to make pies there would be nothing toxic on the pumpkin.

It's been used on Apples and other fruits for decades and FDA approved.
