Shoe Shine Box

I'm in the process of building a shoe shine box for my brother's birthday.  the top flips up to allow storage of polish, rags, etc.  My brother is a younger guy so traditional dovetails or finger joints seemed to old fashioned.  i ended up going with 5mm dominos and it is looking pretty sleek.

While i really like the look of the nearly indistinguishable break where the bottom meets the top, it requires pretty sharp edges that i foresee pinching fingers.  I was thinking of adding a very slight chamfer to the edges to prevent the possibility of pinching.  I think I saw someone called this a "shadow line" where tenon shoulders meet mortise faces in the very enjoyable Split Top Roubo Bench build thread currently underway here.  i would also chamfer the rest of the outside edges to give it uniformity.

I still have a few more steps to go including finish sanding the foot rest, constructing the legs, attaching the front latch and applying a few coats of arm-r-seal all around.

I happy to hear your opinions on keeping the current look or adding chamfers.  thanks.

Good idea!  I'm going to suggest that you rout the area where the heel is to go to lower it by ~3/8".  This will prevent the foot from sliding forward during aggressive brushing.
