Hey everyone,

I am looking to build storage cabinets into my bench against the wall and wanted to incorporate drawers to store my Festool systainers in. I can either use drawers (fully extendable) or doors with kinda like a low profile drawer inside them.

Just your standard bench (not a bonafide woodworking bench) is what I am looking for. I went looking on the site for some ideas and not having alot of luck.

Any of you built something like this or recommend a topic of a similar nature?

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Dan

This is what I did.

Great station.  I got a quick question for you.  Do you remember the size of the pullout (platform/drawer) in the second picture with the 2 systainers?  Or the spacing between the partitions?

Thanks
Bryan

I really like the screwdriver and pliers drawers.  Nice and neat.

Mavdog,

You have pretty much what I am looking for. I have the kapex and want to incorporate it into the bench exactly as you have. The low profile drawers are exactly what I was referring. The only difference, and it is a matter of personal preference is I want to have faces on the drawers and of course the face frame look. But that is a very nice set up you have, and the drawer with the tools are very tidy. Great work! Was it difficult to design? This will be my first go at cabinets so I am treading slowly in this.

I considered the drawer fronts but since it was for the workshop decided against it for now. Can always add them later if I want. I have a track going across the front so I can clamp pieces vertical so the drawers work great for that. It tool a weekend to build it. The top is a torsion box so it is nice and flat.

Could you tell me the depth of the cabinet and what weight sliders did you use.  Very nice set up.

Thanks in advance

I can not tell you what was used in the video posted, but I had used 14" over travel ( you could use 16" full extension, I was using up on-hand stock)and 18" 3/4 travel slide in different shop cabinets, that I wanted to use with the Systainers. Weight depends on what you are planning to put on them, even the cheapest hole 50#. For the depth of the case I went 16" and 18", depending on the slides used for the case. I a sure that there are other post that will have far more and better info if you do a search, but this is what worked for my uses. Hopefully this will be of some help. B

If ya do a search the the Guido wall there is a huge thread. Guido give the drawer slide length and a whole lot of info in it.

that is if thats the video you re talking about.
