Shop Vac Dust Port on Table Saw to Festool CT22

I have a Bosch GTS1031 with 2 1/2" female (about 2 1/4 ID) dust port that accepts standard shop-vac 2 1/2 hose. I own a Festool CT22 and would like to use that instead. The CT22 has the standard 27mm (ID I believe; around 35 mm OD) anti-static hose with the rubberize end. It does not seem like there is a straightforward adapter anywhere on the market for this - has anyone else solved this problem? Bosch sells VAC004 2 1/2 to 35mm reducer but I concerned that its small end will just butt up against the Festool hose vs slide over.

Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG !

I think the D27 hose is going to be a little small for DC from a table saw. It might not get enough air volume flowing through for good collection.  For the D27 hose you could purchase another vac end connector from Festool, and replace the rubber tool end. But that is not ideal as you would need to swap it every time for other tools.

An adapter is the way to go to use the D27.

However the Festool D50 hose should fit the dust port on the table saw.

Alternatively a standard shop vac hose that fits your table saw will also fit the port on the CT22.  That would not be antistatic , but not having AS on the table saw hook up should not be a big deal.

Thanks - I never even thought that my shopvac would fit the CT22 - I will give that a shot 1) not that hard to swap and/or 2) I can just buy a second shop vac hose. Thanks again.Worst case I just use my shopvac and one of the auto-power through switches for the shop vac and table saw

I am using the short D50 hose that is supplied with the boom arm to connect my CT22 to my Bosch 4100.

No adapters are required and the length is just right for the CT parked beside the saw.

I also plug the saw into the CT receptacle which provides auto-on for the vacuum when I turn on the saw.

It is better than nothing but not as dust-free as a cabinet saw with a real dust collector, or even as good as the TS75 on the CT22.

Cabinet makers working for me do use CT22 with Festool 50mm AS hose to extract dust from various brands of smallish table saws in their personal shops.

The hose fitting on the CT22 is an international standard for shop vacs. I suggest using AS 50mm hose because it improves dust extraction. Honestly all of the Festool CT are somewhat under-powered for ideal collection from fixed table saws. It would be good to start your CT22 using Manual before starting the motor on your table saw and let the CT22 run after finishing the cut to clear the hose.

Carroll,

Why not leave the CT on auto, just turn the table saw on and wait several seconds before cutting, then after cutting wait several seconds before shutting down the table saw?

...unless you like shutting down your saw right after the last cut.

Ken,

There are several reasons to let the dust collection run nearly continuously when using a table saw.

As I stated the CT22 is marginally powered for table saw collection going in. It will need to run at maximum to work decently.

When possible it would be better to power the table saw from a separate breaker. The last thing any of us want is for the table to stop turning during a cut.

Running the CT22 continuously will not harm it. The dust collection will not harm the material being cut.

If the table saw was connected to a conventional shop dust collection system normally that would be running continuously.

Of course each of us works in our own way. I can only share my experience and the experience of people I know well working with me.

[welcome] to the fog
i have a crappy shop vac knock off [blink] the hose fits the ct22 perfectly.
if you are running a table saw i would use the 50mm hose
