in response to the repeated posts and anecdotes about home made multi-function style work-surfaces I am going to prepare a set of CAD files for CNC routing on commercial equipment. The aim is to help those who don't want to take the time to make these " the hard way" with jigs and plunge routers.
My aim is to remove the obstacle of lack of a "ready to CNC rout" CAD file by providing a selection of common sizes for FREE DOWNLOAD to FOG members. Using one of these CAD files you will be able to go to any commercial shop with an industrial CNC Router in your local area and have them CNC cut the panel for you.
Tell us what dimensions you would like to see us make available and we'll prepare a batch of the most popular sizes beginning with 4ft x 8ft US plywood. You international FOG readers: we can do metric panel sizes as well, of course.
When the downloads are ready we'll post an announcement here.
Send'em in now . . .
Hans

I always felt the holes should be bigger, like 30mm for example so you'd use a guide ring to make the 20 mm hole.
I think if you make the hole 20 mm eventually you'll end up with an oval at best from the router bit touching the walls.

perhaps I did not make myself clear enough:
I will provide CAD files to enable a commercial shop, using a high power industrial CNC Router, to directly machine precise 20mm holes across the entire panel in one continuous operation - same speed and precision used to manufacture the tops for MFT-3. Just offering a choice of different sizes for custom workbench tops.
No need for guide rings, or handheld plunge router.

"Tell us what dimensions you would like to see us make available"

Baltic Birch  plywood comes in 5' x 5' sheets so if that were available that would be appreciated.

Thank you

@TSO There is no need for specific metric panel sizes. 'Our' plywood and mdf panels are 4*8 feet too, we just call them '122*244 cm'… (Though, as a courtesy to the 90% of the world population that works with metric, there is a size 125*250 cm for some materials).

The 5*5 sheets are 153*153 cm.

we will definitely have CAD files for full sheets 48x96, 60x60 inch,
We are also looking to add smaller sizes to become workbench tops; 30x60, 36x72, 30x96, 36x96 etc

I'd suggest sizes to cover the MFT/3, the older MFT 1080 and the Kapex MFT as three sizes that would likely be in demand.

I would agree with this

they're up and running - our free downloadable  SolidWorks generated drawings and DXF files for use in a CNC router to quickly and inexpensively get accurate worktops made anywhere:
https://tsoproducts.com/plans-drawings/

we have just created an updated set of drawings Rev B that have dual Metric and Imperial dimensions. The DXF files are not affected by dimensioning standard difference. The Rev B drawings will be up in a few days

you're welcome @ mjh2157.
we're glad to be able to provide something so many FOG members are downloading.

our Rev B drawings with dual dimensions are no up on the website for downloading. (This does not affect or change the DXF files).  We also posted a picture sent in by Bryan P. of a worktop he had CNC routed by a Chicago company we had identified for him: Bridgewaterstudio.net

The top in the picture is an imported plywood which comes with a phenolic overlay on both sides.  Sold in the US for less than $ 50.00/sheet it is primarily intended for use in concrete forms. We'll have more on that material in one of our upcoming TSO INSIDER newsletters.

I won't be taking advantage of this anytime in the near future myself, but I just want to comment to say how very generous it is that you've taken the time to provide these files for no commercial gain!

[member=60286]bobfog[/member] - thank you for your comment, but it's just our way of "paying it forward".
We have received so much help, assistance and just plain support from FOG members that we continue to look for ways to keep this spirit going.
The FOG is an extraordinary environment with quite a tradition. We appreciate being able to be a part of it.

Here in Australia our sheet goods come either 2420 x 1210 or 2400 x 1200 (Normally restricted to Plywood only).  2400 x 1200 would be greatly appreciated.

We can add that to our free DOWNLOAD list.  We should have thought of that ourselves - thank you for the reminder.
To be sure we understand correctly: we should use 2400x1200 as the outside dimension of the sheet and otherwise create the 20mm hole pattern on 96mm centers .
Please confirm and we'll create the new files and upload them
