From my previous post ETS 125 EQ or ETS 150/3 I've decided to purchase the ETS 150/3.  With this purchase I was planning on combining it with the CT 22 to get full advantage of the Festool System.  Unfortunately I've just found out that the CT 26 will be available in the States in October.  My project is very weather dependent and I was planning on starting and completing my project by October.  Should I wait for the CT 26 or go ahead and get the ETS 150/3 CT 22 Combo?  If I wait I'll loose the package savings and be stuck using a "shop vac" and forgo the advantage of the variable suction and Festool System.  As always thanks for the advice.

Your time frame will be close. The OFFICIAL release date for the CT26 has not been made. Rumors are floating around of a fall ( may be October) release date. But nothing is official.  I you do wait will you be able to get one in a timely fashion.

I would look hard at the features of both units and see if you really need the feature on the new CT26. After all the CT22 will still do the job.

Bob Marino posted that the CT 26/36 will be available Oct. first.  It's official or he wouldn't have posted.

I'd be surprised if Festool didn't offer the new vacs in their package deals.

I say if your project is needs to be done before the weather turns go for one of the old CTs.  They are great vacs and I really don't think you'll be disappointing.

Buy the tools to do the job, then sell them on craigs list/ebay for twenty percent less, it will still be more efficient and cheaper than hiring other kit for the job. Then use the money towards buying the newer versions you want.

I would definiely wait myself, Oct 1 is not far off at all.

I think if it was 6 months or more out I would buy now. But with a definite 10/01 release just hold off.

Nick, I can see the logic here.  It doesn't leave much time before the snow starts to fly.

M8, how about one of the smaller vacs, the Mini or Midi?  For sanding these puppies are great.  You could be still buy a Ct 26 in Oct. and sell the Mini/Midi if you want.

Brice, I never thought of your idea.  Could be a viable possibility.

I have a lot of sanding coming up.  Which one is usually recommended the Mini or the Midi.  Thanks

Just buy a current CT, they rock!!

I need another vac so I am planning some sort of tool package purchase with one of the new CT's.

I have a Midi and love it.  It's been a steady friend since my first Festool a bit over a year ago.  The only drawback is the bag volume, which requires more frequent changes..  however, if you poke around you can find some clever strategies for re-using the bags a few times.

It seems the CTL26/36 incorporate the best of the Mini/Midi, with the volume of the 22/33 and larger hoses.  E.g. integrated hose garage, lift off motor for bag changes, better wheel setup.

M8, where are you located in the US??  i.e a northern, early-winter state, or more central?

You *could* get away temporarily using a small shop vac with an adapter for the Festool hose connection.  Put the vac on a router speed control rheostat and you've sort of got the variable suction... But all of that would run you about $100, which would be better served on a Festool CT.

Buy it now, use it and you will love it..  then if you like the new one better then buy it also  I have 3 festool vac.  the midi and 2 ct22  and will prob buy the new one...... this is why I am broke all the time, these companies keep coming out with more and better tools that I have to buy,,,,,,  I work for tools !

oh I also have probably 6 or 7 ridgid shop vacs... and seveal months ago Home Depot had a $60 shop vac on sale for $19.99  did not need it but it was a good deal so I bought It.  again toolaholic!  I guess I could just use it till it is full then get rid of it......lol  oh, and half the time I need it to clean up at a job it is burried in my van so I have to sweep !  go figure.

It would drive me crazy having to wait an extra 12 months for Festool products like you lot have to.

The CT26 is a stunner. Love mine so much. M8 I would wait if i were you  [smile]

I have the Midi and can't knock it at all -- even the bag changes which really aren't that frequent and take all of 10 seconds. It's plenty powerful enough for dust extraction and the portability is awesome. I will be getting the new CT26 however for the simple reason that I'm now very often finding myself wishing I had two vacs. Working at different work stations (usually MFT/3 & miter saw) and having to repeatedly swap the vac hose between tools gets old pretty fast. I didn't anticipate this when I got the Midi but now with the CT26 is on the horizon I'm definitely looking forward to doing away with the aggravation. The added option of taking either CT size with me on jobs will also be nice.

In addition to Bob announcing the Oct date for the new Ct 26 and 36. Festool posted the Oct date on thier Facebook acct Yesterday (7/7/10)  AM.

Just to make it 100% official, the launch of the CT 26 & CT 36 is scheduled for October 1st.  More information will be released in the near future regarding these new (at least to us here in North America) products.

Maybe Festool could offer the package deal on a pre-order basis?  [poke]

Harry, having once worked for a large online dealer for Festool, we offered pre-orders on all new Festool products. So, I can tell you that some dealers may choose to offer pre-orders.  You'll need to consult with your dealer of choice to see if they will be offering pre-orders or not.

Shane,

I was just stirring the pot. I am currently suffering from all too common malady.... EWS (Empty Wallet Syndrome) [crying]

No Shane bad idea, I know it is only July but, if I did something like that, my kids would be certain to get nothing from santa come december.
