And yet another cool project from old wine barrels. This one is meant to be a side table to the adirondack chairs. Only barrel parts used, including a resized metal ring, and parts of the barrel bottom to cross brace and secure the top to the legs.

I used the Barrel top to show all the cool engraved (burned I think) lettering on the top. This particular one reveals it's past with a HUGE local winery that went bankrupt as a result of shady real estate deals made by the owners during now infamous housing bubble and subprime lending fiasco. Unfortunately, because it also had an incredible tuscan style bed and breakfast lodge on the property, it's now owned by a Chinese businessman who only exports all the wine to China....

Those are both awesome pieces! It is like the staves are ready-made for chair making, great execution!

Any issues with staining clothes from the staves being sat upon?

no, they totally dry by the time I get to them. They were coated with a water based exterior poly.

However, after about two straight weeks of rain, the ends did leach out some wine stain on the concrete pavers, and the tops of the arms turned
a bit black, which indicates to me that they weren't getting a good water seal.  I just coated with beeswax as a temp measure until this summer when I'll probably sand down the horizontal surfaces and give them a better top coat.
