Sipo Dominos (XL)

So... the Sipo dominos that I bought today ( 12mm x 750mm) are warped about as badly as a Home Depot 2x4 (pretty bad that is) ... Is this normal?  The 14mm (x 750) don't seem to be fairly straight.  There seems to be some decent flex in them, so I'm guessing it probably doesn't matter - but I thought I'd throw the question out there.  I realize that if you're cutting short tennon's, then it really shouldn't matter anyway.  I will try them out shortly... but I'm guessing it doesn't matter if they're warped because the mortise will keep them straight anyway... and the only real place that it matters is where the 2 boards meet (if that even matters).  Just curious and looking for some feedback.  Thanks.

Can you please show an image that indicates how warped? Like maybe them against a ruler of some sort?

I have a lot of those in stock and they are all pretty much dead straight - I think...

I can try... I was playing around with my Camera trying to get a good shot - but I didn't have much time because I had to leave for my daughter's ballet recital (she's 4) - which also made me recall my discussion with my wife this morning about whether or not diapers should go in a systainer, or our Festool reusable bags.  We chose the bags for now, but we have an empty MIDI that could fit diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes.

Anyway... I will try and get some photos.  I just set one down on edge.  It looks like it sits up 1/4" in the middle of the surface (we can call that the y axis), and probably warps around another 1/4" to the right/left (we can call that the x axis). 

The 14mm dominos look dead on.  The plastic that these come in was opened up (ripped), with loose dominos outside the bag.  Maybe it was a return?  I just got the XL today... and that's why I threw the question out there - I really don't know.  I will get some photos.

I'm very curious because I have a lot of these and I haven't noticed what you are noticing.

I'm sorry if I'm obtuse, but it almost seems like you're making a joke relative to diapers and woodworking? If you are, it went right past me... Can you please elucidate? - I'm serious, I think there's and inside joke there...

haha... no... that was an actual discussion that I had with my wife this morning.  My 2 year old son and I ventured out this morning on a road trip to get the domino XL, and some wood.  She brought out the diaper bag - but it was actually a festool reusable bag that we got from Festool Connect, and I told her that perhaps it should actually go in a systainer.

Here are 3 shots.  I haven't taken every one out to analyze it - this was just the few that I grabbed at random.  I do realize that we are dealing with real wood here, so this was more of a question and not a complaint.

I've bought a few boxes of the silo tenons and never had anything like that.

I would still use it, but I would be conscious of my tenon length vs amount of bend in the piece.  The amount of bend over 1.25", over 5.25", or over a whole stick will be quite different.  Cut accordingly. 

I twice joint most of my wood with a 24hr rest period in between, but have still had pieces take off with a final sizing.  Wood moves and it's hard to tell how tension is stored in the workpiece.  Straight grain helps.  I agree with Ceddy most of the tenons are straighter than that.

It seems yours was torn so maybe it went through some real humidity changes?

Yeah... not all the tennons were in the bag when I got the box.

I probably will still use them anyway... unless someone from Festool chimes in and suggests otherwise... although, I'd hate to get something together and then have it warped or not work out.  We shall see.
