Site is so slow?

I decided to try replying to a post. Timed out after 100 seconds. Tried again... took an Internet forever but did actually post; I copied my reply so I wouldn't have to re-type it thankfully...

Slow as a slug crossing a salt flat; and that doesn't end well, btw...

Soooo.... my Jr High actually had a teletype that worked at 110 baud. It was ancient even back then. It would be spunky compared to this haha! (dude! it had a side-board paper-tape reader!)

It’s oooonnnlllyyy taking 15 -21 seconds each time I try to open a thread…

Then it took 28 seconds for the above to post.
Then 6 seconds to get back to the Todays Pasts pane
Then 16 seconds to open this post again to proof.
Then another 11 seconds for the Modify pane to come along.
I’m guessing it will take 20 seconds for this new entry to post.

Time to get [member=76259]MattFestool[/member] to check it out again.

And ten minutes later it’s pretty snappy again.

I beg to differ. If this is snappy, I would hate to experience anything worse. It took over 40 seconds to load the home page after I typed the site address into my browser. 22 seconds to join this thread once I clicked on it.

[member=76259]MattFestool[/member] Something needs to happen before we all suffer another week of painfully slow FOG use.

The thing that's so exasperating are the inconsistencies in the response time. Sometimes it's FAIRLY reasonable, at most other times it's horrifically slow and then every now & then...quick like it should be and has been for the last several months. And then suddenly, it reverts back again to its horrifically slow response time.

These inconsistencies keep changing on a constant minute by minute basis. Slow ...to horrifically slow...to fast...to horrifically slow...to fast...to slow...to not too bad...to double horrifically slow...to finally I received a "website is not responding" message but after that it immediately became fast again. I originally thought it was the on-line traffic levels but that doesn't appear to be the case.

To [member=76259]MattFestool[/member] this is a great example, it's taken 45 seconds just to save this message and return to the normal screen and it's 11:18 PM CST...not exactly a high traffic moment I suspect.  [smile]

I am connecting from Prague (here on a business trip this week).    At the moment the performance is good for me.

I wonder if the issue is some sort of load based issue when there are many people connecting at once.

REVISION:  It slowed down when I posted this.  So never mind....
