Size of router aid depth

I can't find the size (depth?) of the router aid. I'm wondering when it's put on a board edge, how deep does the board have to be to hold up the aid? If the board is too shallow, any suggestions, of how to use it?

The depth, if I assume what you mean by depth correctly, is about 3-1/8".  Ideally your material should be at least this thick.
