Sketchup Models of MFT 1080 and/or Kapex?

Does any have (or has anyone seen) an accurately done Sketchup Model of the 1080 and/or Kapex?  I was about to start my own when I thought of the possibility that someone here had such a model and had not posted it in Google Warehouse.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any finished models, I started a MFT model and I know Jonny Round Boy has an incomplete Kapex model.

I've been meaning to put my SketchUp in the Google Warehouse, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Any way, I have the MFT 1080s as part of my MFT station. They are within 1/64". Here is a pic. Let me know...and I can email to you. File is too large to post here, even when I take all other models out.

OK I give . . . Bruce, why is this "not accurate"

Rey,  I would appreciate your emailing (or trying to) me with model.  Email is a146@cox.net  Thanks.

Why not post?

It's not to perfect scale or in metric and no guide rail or rail mounting hardware. BTW, its Brice, not Bruce.

I just sent it to you...it should have come from address rjq909@gmail.com. I didn't post it here because the file size is over the attachment limit here. I will get around to putting some of my Festool models in the Google Warehouse...haven't gotten around to it yet though.

Brice, I get Ray alot instead of Rey...pronuciation stays the same though for me.  [tongue]

Thanks Rey, I made that model when I was still learning to use sketchup. It's not bad I just wish I would have used metric measurements instead of approximate imperial ones.

Jonny, no problem, I'm happy you added it to the collection.

BTW, I love the 3D views of the models in the warehouse. Take a look at them when you get a chance, click on the 3D button in the upper right of the model image.

I found this thread looking for a Kapex 3D model. Ended up modeling it myself. If anyone has need for a model I'd be glad to send it over. It´s accurate to the millimeter on the important dimensions. I only have it in Autodesk Inventor format. Didn't find any way to export it in a Sketch Up readable format.

Here is what it looks like. All the tilting and turning is built into the model, i.e. the model can be "posed" in any fashion.

Can you export it as a DXF? DXF is AUtoCads data transfer protocol. Sketchup Pro can read DXF. You can download a free version of Sketchup Pro but it it limited to only so many hours (20?) I had success with bringing a DXF into Sketchup about a year ago. If you like you can send it to me in DXF and I'll try to convert it and post it for others. PM me if interested.

I'd like to see that happen.

Hi.
I tried to export it to DWG, but that file didn't open i SketchUp.
Opened it in AutoCad and exported as DXF. Went better, but some parts are missing. I don't understand why that happens.

How do I attach a file to a forum post (other than an image)?

Here is what I managed to import to SketchUp. I'll make another try and choose an older DXF format (this one is "Autocad 2010 DXF").

Hmm.
Even if I try to export the missing part separately it doesn't import in Sketchup. Does anyone know what to do?
I've tried different DWG formats:
- Autocad 2013, 2010, 2009.

2013 doesn't import at all into SketchUp. The other formats imports, but skips one part.

The part imports into AutoCad without problem. Could there be some geometric feature in the part that isn't supported in SketchUp?

Unimportable part:

Sketchup files aren't supported on the forum.  You can up load the file to the Trimble 3D Warehouse.  You can do that through Sketchup: File>3D Warehouse>Upload.

No point uploading a half model. I'll e-mail you the parts. Maybe you can try to import them, if you got the time.
Feel free to upload it to the warehouse if you manage to import the file.

I have now tried a lot of different file formats and event tried to convert some curves, but it seems to be a no go.
1. Tried to export to every selectable DWG format (AutoCad 2000 - 2013)
2. Tried to first export to .SAT, import again to Inventor and finally exporting to DWG... same problem
3. The missing part is modeled with a lot of splines. I tried to convert the splines from "AutoCad" to "Standard".. same problem
4. Tried to remove a bunch of fillets after converting the splines.. same problem.

I give up. If someone wants the model without the missing part I'll happily send it over. At least it might be useful if you are modeling a stand or a SCMS station since the footprint and the hole pattern is exactly drawn. That was my main purpose for making the model.

PM me you e-mail address if you want me to e-mail the model.
