Slide lock on kapex 120 not working after power cable replacement

I replaced the power cable on a Kapex 120 REB and now the slide lock doesn’t engage anymore. Obviously I needed to unscrew it fully to remove the plate, to replace the cable.

It feels like the screw is going into something in there.. but it isn’t having any effect on if the head slides or not.

Any advice on how to fix?

IIRC that knob screws into a clamping plate which is what actually applies the lock. After you unscrew that knob from the clamping plate it will be retained in the black plastic cover by a small o-ring placed on the threads.

So I would double-check that the threads of the knob are actually engaged in the clamping plate, versus it just floating there. I think it's also fairly straightforward to remove the plastic cover to see what's going on.
