Made door from reclaimed 1x6 . Put straight cut with t55 on joining edges, dominos & glue, then clamped. Installed hardware which was really easy. We were gonna do traditional Z bracing across front, but  decided to do an "I" instead because h.o.'s last name starts with I.  I had fun doing this today and thought it turned out pretty cool. What do you think?

Nice job.  It looks good.

I did a sliding barn door for my gym.  But I didn't make the door.  [sad]  I didn't have a domino at the time.

Is the door for a bathroom?  Main floor or basement?  From the photos it looks like it could be a basement with the boxes in the background.

Not that it really matters, just thought I would ask.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks great. Just did a master bath remodel and it gets a sliding door to the stool room. But sadly the homeowners father is going to do the finish work so I don't get to do the barn door. Would have been my first one.

Where did you find the barn door hardware?
ordered it online from a company called " Real  hardware ".  And I was Real ly happy with it. Very well made and the door rolls effortlessly . There prices are good too.

Looks really nice!

Were the 1x6s true enough or did you have to plane them?

Good question, I got lucky and the material was really flat. However I put clean rip cut on edges where 1x6 were joining with t55. Just left two exposed edges raw. Thanks for the compliment.

Dave,

Just curious did you put some sort of rub strip on the lower inside of the door? I cant tell by the photo .

How did you prevent the wall/ casing from getting damaged by the door when it is opened or closed?

Is the hardware stiff enough to stop the door from swinging when its opened or closed?

Just curious in case I have to do something like it in the future.

Thanks Pal.

whats up, sancho!
The hardware kit comes with lower guide. The lower guide is a "U" shape that is anchored directly to floor. It's same black finish as rest of hardware. Guide is made for 1 3/4" door, mine was 2" ,so I had to rabbet bottom  of door to fit through guide. Hardware works very smooth and nothing to slow the door down except bump-stop on end of track. It's a primitive design, nothing really fancy.
