Small kitchen build on budget for customers thinking of selling up, but needed to update what was there. Great for me as this couple dislike what the big box stores have to offer.

As like my wardrobe build, all sheet goods cut and lipped for me. This whole project for mdf mfc circa £350 including vat. Base cabs standard size and wall cabs over sized to 900mm tall because of high ceilings and heights of the couple.

Carcasses domino-ed, kreg foremen for pocket holes and LR32 for shelf pin holes.

Shop soon gets busy and full.

Carcass assembled and showing sticker from Avonplywood with name of component and size.

Face frame construction under way

Dry fit of wall cabs

Lacquer on route

Domino-ed doors ready spraying, green tape hides and protects the number that matches the carcasses.

Colour going on.

Does the video work...?

Base cabs ready to leave

Sink run

Wall cabs with built in extractor

Popped back yesterday to see it working

Boxed in pipes behind bin as an extra as they were not discoverable until they ripped out on kitchen.

Hope you like it. Great job to start the new year with.

Nice job :)

Only two dominos in the sides ? I'm doing some 600 deep wardrobes and I've used 4 and 3 screws through the sides as it doesn't show.

Nice job...is that a walnut countertop?

Curious why conventional hinges were used rather than the hidden Euro style? Just an aesthetics issue?

Farrow and ball oval room blue and pointing.
Two's plenty, Mainly for alignment as second set of hands. Screw pull it in nice and tight and strong. I straddle base plate of the adjustable feet over the base and gable/sides to carry load and aid in the strength, one in centre also.  All backs are 18mm and screwed to the base.
Hinges were a customers call, along with the colours. House is a Victorian build, butts look more traditional.
Thanks all.

Good looking job,a quick question what lacquer do you use, got some wardrobes to make and spray, looking for a good lacquer stain and high gloss.

outstanding work!  I really like your drying rack,  been meaning to build one myself.  Is it anchored to the wall?  Would appreciated some more pictures of it up close.

Looks great.
I like the hinges with the face frames.
Nicely done.
Tim

Really nice cabinets!

As for the doors - are the frame joined with dominoes and the dadoed to receive the panel or how do you do that? What kind of wood are you using for the frame/faceframe?

Great job, love the colour choice [big grin]

Are you using morrells water based primer on MDF and it's not furrying up???

face frame and doors are popular.  FF are just butted, glued and screwed i don't see the need for a domino here.  Doors are domino-ed first using the 10mm cutter on the 500, i use the reference stops on the domino with the stiles and rail and then run the groove stopping short on the stiles.
Morrells for every thing, primer, clear and pigmented all WB. First coat of primer and you get a little fur, knock it back and then  another primer and it's ready to go with the top coats after knocking it back again. It's high build, great stuff.  Then finish off with two top coats. I must be easily past 100 litres of Morrells WB gear and i highly rate it.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Oh wow I love morrells top coats and lacquers but never even attempted W/B primer as I just assumed like the rest it would furry up massively. May have to give some of this a try with moisture resistant MDF. Have to get a decent sander first to knock it back. Got the rotex 125 in mind [smile]

Thanks for the help.

I have use that high build primer and it's ok. It does need a few coats and some decent sanding in between. Gives a decent finish though!

Do you recommend maybe investing in a sander to rub it down instead of just with a sanding block? I have everything festool other than my sander.

For sure yes. I use the sander with 240 grit. Any random orbit sander will do, doesn't need to be a rotex

Is the frame flush with the inside edge of the carcases? If so how did you deal with the join ?

The overall design and colours look great!
