Smart innovations on MFT

There's always a fair amount of discussion around maximizing MFTs. I stumbled across this version the other day and there's a lot of nuggets in its design and execution. The design of the hinged guide rail bracket looks to really improve functionality in stability and repeatability. In the video it looks like there's a hold down clamp that attaches to the outboard cross cut fence (maximizes the table width), I've never seen an MFT have a clamp like that before, really cool. I like the overall size, shape, and rigidity; you don't see these dimensions often for portable units, but it seems to make the most sense to me. I cook for a living, and have never installed a door, but the little support brackets for the t-tracks on the legs look really handy for people who do. Anyways, pretty smart/inspiring stuff going on with this MFT.

That does look quite useful. Its overall size is the same as the work tables (on sawhorses) we use onsite, a size I've found to be the best balancing footprint vs. functionality (we do use mainly 4x8 tables in our shop).

I wonder what price point they're shooting for?

Has anyone signed on to the 100 needed to start production and what is the cost?

Rob is an amazing and stand up guy.  I’ve been beta-testing the Dashboard and it’s accessories for over two years both in the field and in my shop.  I can tell you it has no equal and I can’t imagine working without it.  If you have questions about his product I recommend you contact him via his website.  If you would like to talk to someone who has been using the Dashboard every day for years.  You are more than welcome to contact me through my Instagram @acomitaws or email CameronTrujillo@acomitaworkshop.com.        Also...  I don’t get kickbacks, I’m not on payroll, I have not been compensated in any way.  Thisn’t an advertisement or marketing loophole.  I paid for my tables.  Rob is my friend and I love what he made.  That is all.

I tried a few times to send a note of interest in being an early adopter, but the link (send) button doesn't seem to be working.

If anyone can reach out to Rob and let him know to check out the link, we'd both probably appreciate it.

It is a very interesting work table. If the price is not too high it could be detrimental to sales of the Festool MFT. Therefore, Rob is not permitted to promote his table in this Festool owned forum.

This thread is walking a fine line and posting Rob’s email address might cause the thread to be deleted. Send me a PM if you want his address.

I signed up on the website and got an emailed response.  You might check your spam filter. Sounds like they might be a ways out from production.

I was fortunate to be local and picked up one of these recently. Just got to really use it for the first time this week. I can't compare to the MFT, but so far it has been a huge upgrade for me and a VERY well thought out product!!! I am a very happy camper and would highly recommend both the bench and working with Rob.

I got an update from Rob to use the long rail for full 96" rips with the dashboard. Second picture shows how the rail gets squared up to the grid. Should be knocking out some passage door panels on it in a few days.

Some great ideas in the system, but I would never give up the heavy duty woodworking vise I added to my dual MFT. I use that vise constantly. The extension with its heavy steel legs steadies my MFT enough to allow hand sawing. My vise extension connects to the main MFT much as the saw attaches in the video.

Nice job Rob!

I was into Eurekazone for over 15 years and recently converted to Festool/Makita. Rob's design reminds me of the Eurekazone EZ-1 bench but includes some innovations that would have made the EZ-1 a successful product. This look like a winner.

Love it!  A lot of great ideas!  I don't have an MFT 3, I'm still using the old rig.  So I'm giving it a real hard look.  So I replied.

I really need the entire work surface to be sacrificial.  That's a very nice top but HDF would be better for me.  So that could be a nice option.  Buy it with the fine plywood top or the sacrificial HDF top.  Screwed from below instead of from above.

And that leads to the next thing.  A table that big with an HDF top needs wheels.  The Kreg table has wheels, the MW 1000 has wheels, this new system needs wheels too.  Guys this creative out to be able to figure that out.

I contacted Rob, not for the entire table but only for his rail brackets that uses regular t-tracks. He fabricated some and posted them on his Etsy store if you're interested. I haven't seen any other person or company doing 3rd party rail brackets. I can't wait to try them.

I did my first long cuts today and very happy with the results.

Needed to true up edge on some door stiles and rails.

Used a single dog and a couple of depth stops to keep the workpiece lined up with rail.

The rail then gets locked in at the ends in the track-stars.

For the rails that were wider than the track, the cuts come out as dead-on as I can measure. For the rails that are narrower than the track I replaced the black supports with scrap stock and that worked better than what I shot pictures of for keeping the cut square.

I general I am thrilled with this setup for long cuts. I few more tweaks in my setup and I expect this to be solid, stable, and very fast to set up!!

[member=64685]nw60312[/member]  what can you tell us about the black brackets supporting the side of the rail? Are they something you made?
