We had an ice storm on Tuesday, it's snowing like crazy today - 6 inches so far - and it hasn't been above freezing, above 22 for that matter, since Tuesday morning.  And this is Dallas!  I'm sure the Superbowl folks are thrilled with this.  NOT!  Not a woodworking project in sight, too cold to work in the garage plus I can't get to my local lumberyard anyway so here's a question to ponder.  Do you find yourselves reviewing the quality of the workmanship and building techniques when you are at a restaurant, store, etc?  I'll be sitting there having lunch at a local eatery wondering how certain trim pieces were built, whether or not any Festools were used in it's construction.  Does this mean I need professional help?  At least for this particular disorder...  [blink] [blink] [blink]
 
unfortunitly you do need profesional help. you need a profesional tool seller to give you some retail terepy [big grin]
 
I do that.
Sometimes I'm disappointed with what I see.  Sometimes impressed.  Usually I'm telling my friends "yeah, that looks good, but it's just plywood..."

It's also true when shopping for furniture.  "Don't buy it, honey...  I can build that sooooo easy, and cheaper!".    
Both lies, btw.  I've come to realize that it is neither easier, nor cheaper.  But it will be of higher quality, and last 10 times as long, or a lifetime.  And enjoy the process.

alan m gave good advice.  I suggest you contact Dr. Bob, or Dr. Tom, or Dr. Sean asap.

All the time. Constantly. I can't help it.

It used to be that I'd go furniture shopping with my girlfriend, and she'd say "ooh, that's a nice cabinet". I'd then say something like, "yes, it looks nice. But that top is only a veneer, the legs are not well fixed, the door is warped already, and it won't last 5 minutes".

Or we'd watch home improvement type TV shows, and it'd be "ooh, that kitchen looks really nice", and I'd say "yes, but all the socket fronts are wonky, the floor tiles are badly laid, the paint finish on the woodwork is terrible..." etc, etc.

We've now been together for 10 years, and I don't say that stuff anymore, I don't need to - she sees all the flaws herself now! Apparently, I've 'ruined' these things for her now!!! [eek]
 
We've been cold all week also, Howard. We haven't had any ice yet this year but last night, got about an inch or two of snow.

The bobcat just dug us out of the snow today. UPS has not been here since Monday.

People that purchased from me please understand there was no way to get the packages out, heck I could barely make it to the street on foot. Solid 36" deep from my front door to the street 100 feet away. In the back drifts were 6 feet high easy and that big pile is near 15' high! My black car is in snow that of course turned to solid ice. That will just have to sit awhile. Check out a strip mall near me and that's 2 days after the storm hit.

I will try to get all the packages out today.

 
We are lucky here in So Cal. This time of the year is some of our best weather. In a few month it will be HOT and smoggy.  This is a photo out my office window, clear and sunny.  We do not even have any snow on the local mountains and they go up to 9,000 feet. It will be 70 degrees today.
 
Well, I guess you are lucky if you do not like snow. We love the snow!
 
Not to brag, but it's snowing in Denver, fortunately it's warmed up from sub zero temperatures to the balmy mid-30's, or 50 degrees warmer today than earlier in the week.  Throughout the cold and snow I left one ceiling mounted IR heater on in my garage/shop so it's stayed around 35 to 40 degrees, nice to get into the car in the morning, but a bit chilly for projects.  My solution for winter woodworking in the shop is long underwear and heavy boots, not elegant, and far less expensive than therapy.  [big grin]

I like the snow too. I just like keeping it in the high sierra mountains. I can visit the snow anytime I want. With out shoveling out my driveway. 
 
It dumped 15 inches here on Wednesday, so I declared today a snow day and went skiing!

What a great way to start the weekend.
 
Wasn't anyone wondering how Shane got that picture of the road going to work?  Sunroof, Shane, with knee on the steering wheel?  [eek]
