This was a question on Sawmillcreek that I thought might be fun here as well.

How good was Santa to you this year?  Were you good enough for Santa to bring some cool stuff? [tongue]

Santa started earlier than Xmas at my house. (I must be on his honors list [wink]). He also apparently has a subcontractor for deliveries that won't fit in his sleigh... (I discovered his conveyance doesn't have a liftgate, and reindeer have limited pulling power) [unsure]

Since September, he's sent a number of new "Lifelong" tool items to me. (Probably doing it now, trying to save his back from heavy lifting injuries in his later years)

I knew I was in for a good Xmas when I opened my shop one morning to find a shiny new 2-ton pallet jack sitting there! Obviously good things to come! [thumbs up]

The rush began shortly thereafter.......
Laguna Italian LT20 Bandsaw
Laguna 14X14SUV Bandsaw
Delta 18-900L 18" Drill Press
Hammer A3-41 Jointer/Planer with Silent Power cutter
Powermatic 3520B Lathe (He apparently decided to get the Mustard Monster to me early on a Black Friday 15% off deal)
Laguna 10-16 Revo mini lathe
JDS 3HP Mobile Cyclone Dust Collector
JDS HP Air Filtration System
FESTOOL Jigsaw, Drill, Vacu-Clamp system, (3) Sanders, Systainers, Syscarts, Sortainers, Zobo Forstners, Centrotec, Sets, Dust Extractor, NAINA items and a promise for additional green after Xmas.
He also took away my hardly used Mortising Machine with a promise to replace it with Festool's Domino system later this year.

I guess I had been a good boy this year, and I'm going to try to behave exceptionally well next year as well because I've sent a letter to Santa that I would like my next stocking filled with a Laguna 6" Belt sander, a Jet 22-44 Oscillating drum sander, a Sawstop Industrial Cabinet Tablesaw (ICS) to replace my current Sawstop PCS, and I also mentioned that I REALLY, REALLY like the color GREEN. [scared]

If I get all these things from Santa by the end of next year, I'll be free to be super naughty and BAD the following year, because I won't need anything for awhile!! [big grin]

Among other bits and pieces I suppose I scored a Protool Sword Saw and a Fanatic Allwave 9'10" SUP.

I plan to be extra nice through 2014 [wink]

I got a 12x9 pt

I plan not to be so horrible through 2014 [wink]

almost forgot my festool scarf [big grin]

Merry Xmas guys from a very sunny Gran Canaria

I got a new iPad mini for browsing the FOG.
I wasn't that keen until the wife pointed out that it's dimensions are divisible by 32!

Same as every year for the last 36 from my wife-----A pair of pants and a shirt.

Tom

It is nice watching the kids open their presents. Not so much my teenager he knows what every present is before he opens it. Might surprise him next year and buy him some rubbish that he doesn't want lol

Something is horribly wrong! I had a note from Santa this morning that read:

"Dear Daniel,
I am sorry to inform you that the woodworking equipment that you wanted would not fit into your small basement shop. Do not worry, I have taken the equipment to one of my elves for safe storage until you finally move and can have a proper wood shop. If you do not move by next year, I will be taking the rest of your equipment, such as your SawStop, to SittingElf with the rest of your tools. I can not promise that SittingElf will not tinker with your toys, you know how elves are [wink] In the mean time enjoy all your new hand tools, books, and Benchcrafted split-top Roubo benchmaker's package!

Merry Christmas,

Santa Claus"

Very curious ... did you happen to hear a helicopter as "Santa" was leaving ?

Actually, I did hear something like a helicopter that woke me up.  [scratch chin]

Santa brought me the usual socks and underwear and my 14 year old daughter got me a Boston Bruins cup and a beer bottle holder which she bought with her own money, which i thought was pretty cool.

nothing green  :'(  but a couple of really nice shirts.  I do have to order a couple of sysports pretty soon so that will do.  I did forget to mention that Santa made a trial run to my new house back in October, to make sure he could find it, and he left a PS420 Carvex so things must be OK...

I got a nice little planer of the famous swiss made brand Inca:

At least it is another shade of green ;-)

And this pic shows what people throw at this little beast  [eek] [eek]

Santa was good to me! I got a CXS kit  [big grin]

Also a gopro hero 3 for my offroading adventures and JW speaker LED foglights for my jeep!

Merry Christmas FOG family!

Of the green stuff I got a Ti15 Set, Sys-MFT, Sys-toolbox (the new one with lids), some Sys1 Sort boxes and a Midi systainer for my MFS & CMS-OF loose bits. (These were acquired during the Festool autumn sale as early xmas gifts)

Best gift that came from santa thou has been Rocksmith 2014 with the Epiphone Les Paul Jr. twanger. Got blisters on my fingers from playing 6 hours non-stop with my daughter. Great fun!

I got a Sys-MFT and the hand sanding block kit. Also I received a set of Blokkz, woodpecker saddle square, 2 Pica pencils, and of Bowclamps. And a $25 Amazon gift card.  Very nice Christmas.

I got a nice work vest and a couple of other goodies of use, including a Wusthoff steak knife set.  i got a beautifully wrapped package from my daughter containing an empty box with a note that she was awaiting a book she had gotten me.  I burst out laughing and gave her a high-five.  She asked what that was for ad i reminded her that just about every year, she gets an IOU package from me and the waits til much later in the following year for me to finish making her present.  "Tick for Tack" I told her and we ggot a good laugh together.  later on, she opened her package from me containing a couple of squared up pieces of wood with no note.  I knew that she wood know it was to be a surprise of some sort. (a pair of letter trays for legal size documents.)  More laughs.

My son and grandson had collaborated on the vest mentioned above.  GS got from me a promissory note that I was going to have him assist me at building a set of shelves for his room display of wrestling trophies, of which he has more than a couple of shelves full.  He was very excited about that. i just have to arrange my shop so we can move around together.

Later on, during dinner, the conversation got on to work related problems David was having.  He mentioned he was looking for a cheap vehicle to ride arround in when not needing any of his trucks.  He was getting tired of smelling deisel fuel and grease everywhere he went, especially when not working.  I said something about him being too darned fussy.  He can't stand the smells that seem to follow him in his own work and "...you complain about the smell of fertilizer whenever you ride in my truck."  i hardly finished my taunt when son and granson took a quick look at each other, jumped up from the table and ran outside (probably into the garage).  Everybody at the table asked "What is that all about." My reply was "I think it has something to do with my truck."

Sure enough, the two returned within minutes carrying a big plastic container (they had forgotten about it earlier) big enough to keep a couple of bags of grass seed and a couple bags of fertilizer on the outside bed of my truck and away from weather and hungry animals.  Ha! That just means I can store four bags of material outside and still have space for a couple of bags of "whatever" on the front seat. ;D

Tinker

BTW: I'm thinking more seriously about the small Domino and letting GS learn how to operate.  His project i plan on sliding DT's, but need to made some shelving and drawers for my shop.  I am pretty sure he is interested in learning.  He showed great enthusiasm for learning what i do while working with me this past summer. He is a hustler and learns quickly

Pretty, new Filson bag to use as my briefcase. The old field bag has been dragged around the planet for 12-13 years & is just getting broken in.

Tinker - it does smell a bit like an old, wet dog & I can no longer take it to nice places...

I love stuff that I am pretty sure will outlast me, i.e. anything Filson.

My father-in-law is like a kid around Christmas...he wears an elf hat every year and a red Rockettes Christmas sweatshirt that we bought him years ago.  My eight year old daughter whispered to me, "should I tell him that Santa isn't real?" ...I whispered back, "Let's not ruin it for him."  [wink]

It was our best Christmas yet! Each year at Christmas time, with our daughter, has been a joyful time!

Happy New Year and Best Wishes for you all. Learning from FOG members has been as valued to me as owning the tools.

Richard,

Got to love that Filson stuff. I've got plenty of their products over the last 10 years or so - luggage, field bags, rucksack and clothing (see my avatar - either love it or hate that jacket). When I was in Seattle last August, I even stopped by their Headquarters. It's nice to see that Filson has decided to make an increasingly greater  proportion of their items in the USA - much of it in Seattle.
