So, I go to the movies.....

I've gotten used to the ticket prices, it's the way the concessions are handled that kills me, and my wife.
No more salt shakers for your popcorn in many theaters here in Chicago. You get tiny packets of salt like at a Fast Food Drive-Thru.   The Soda is self-service, and any other items that they can automate with a dispensor machine. They're thinning the herd of staff behind the counter as much as they can.
The salt though, that's just silly   [blink]

No salt packets or shakers or self serve here. A full service counter. In fact some have quite a few food offerings. You really could get a meal if the price was right.

How times have changed, my wife and I kick our shoes off and sit in front of our 60" HDTV and watch a movie with a nice glass of wine [big grin]

It's not the money, it's the comfort and convenience [wink]

Ohh how nice. We 'limp' along with our 40" HDTV  [wink]    . It would be great except we have two cats and one dog that interupt movie watching with ease, and family that always calls at the worst time during a movie.  HMMM< come to think of it, getting away from all of that and into a theater for a couple of hours doesn't sound that bad!!!  [blink]

I like going movies!

Here in the UK  with your mobile phone you txt ur provider!  It use to be free to txt but now it cost you a txt message charge so not a lot.  You then receive a number which you show at your cinema screen and you get buy one ticket get one free only to be used on Wednesdays .

Ticket being £7 bargain  [big grin]

I avoid going to the movies because i cannot stand watching a movie in what feels more and more like a noisy fast food restaurant.
When we go we reserve tickets ahead at the back corner in  the hope not to have people near us with a dish and 4 course meal in the most noisy irritant wrapping paper they could get.
theaters are trying to earn more money out of selling food than selling tickets, but i know many people who stopped going because of that.
One of the last times i went we chose the worst seats possible and there was nobody near us until the movie began, then a couple came in late with a full tray each with drinks and food and sat right behind us. They made so much noise in the first 15minutes eating crisps, slurping out of soda cans etc... that i was biting my teeth not to get up and do something bad.

One time i wanted to see what it was like in 3d, they forgot to give us glasses when we registered, so when the movie began we had to get out and get them ourselves.
The glasses they gave us hadn't been cleaned so i had to try and wipe the grease off on my shirt caused by the previous users greasy fast food hands. Even then i couldn't see great through them for the whole movie.
And to top that my GF wears glasses so she had to take those off and see the movie in 3d fuzzy through greasy glasses.
