The "function" boils down to service. A business (only my opinion) must provide exceptional service to propagate, acquire and maintain the client?le that pays the light bill. Service is the invisible product. When service is good, nobody notices, the consumer historically takes this for granted. However, when service is poor, WOW...watch out!
Brent, Profit indeed allows you sustenance; as it does to all businesses; as it does my business. I derive pleasure from developing happy, and satisfied clients. To be honest, I am not out to sell something someone does not need. Check the "acquisition tips" on FJ. I try and direct those new to woodworking to economical alternatives.
On a personal note, my personal goal is to be a friend amongst friends, a worker amongst workers, and a productive member of society; each day I try to bring into the world, a bit of good naturedness to those I encounter. If I can go to bed at night saying that I had a positive impact in the world, and the people about me, then I can rest easy.
