Thank you, Shane for posting!  Unfortunately, they are still doing that cropped editing, but at least I get to watch it.  Maybe one of these days I'll have to break down and get cable TV.

Well, for cable tv people on the east coast, last week's episode of Ellen's Design Challenge is on now followed by the new episode.

Putting on my fuzzy slippers  [eek] [eek] [eek] [eek] and grabbing a green beverage and heading away from the FOG for a bit...

Just kidding.  I don't have fuzzy slippers - just a fuzzy head  [thumbs up] and my iPad travels with me.

Drinking the green Koolaide. I think I have see more use of Festool in tonight's episode than any other. Buy the time the winner comes around, Not one will want the Ace tool package, or they will sell it at a discount to get themselves stock on our favorite the Green and black tool line.

Just got done watching the DVR.  Interesting subject / project.  My opinion - some real dudes in this week's competition.  As an observer and noticer of the unusual, it was interesting to see the number of close ups of Jory's face as his "arch enemy" was talking.

Interesting that the field was culled down further. 

Even Festool safety glasses made the show!

[member=44289]JoryBrigham[/member] you did your usual great execution of your build.  A thought for you after watching your videos and looking at your site.  Consider the use of copper in some of your work.  Just as wood ages and develops a patina so does copper.  It is not as stark as steel and can be easily manipulated and formed into fluid shapes.  It can also be manipulated to bring different hues and colors.

In my world Mr. Concrete wouldn't sell too many of his $6K concrete chairs.

Jory, in episode 6 when they showcased Brandon's concrete/metal outdoor chair as the "standard" (that wasn't even welded by him), you should have piped up and ask if he sketched, designed, and built the chair in 24 hours or less  ;D

Oh man!! I think that would be hilarious. You have Brandon Gore, he pretty much only works with concrete. The metal you see on his furniture isn't even welded by him.

These people getting chopped are feeling more and more political.

i.e.
- axing Jess and Lacey in the same day would've drawn criticism for eliminating the rest of the women in one round, though I feel Lacey's was definitely weaker than Garrett (and has been throughout the show).
- Freddy is hanging on by the skin of his teeth only because the show would lose the people who tune in every week to see him get eliminated. That bench of woven wire and that bed were totally awful, the TV stand was okay aesthetically but didn't meet the challenge at all. The pong table had the look and feel of Jory's work, not his. The mirror was so incredibly basic I have no idea why the judges continually gush over it, and the lantern had the same qualities. Jason had time to build a lantern and a whole bench in the time it took him to build that wobbly thing.

He also mentions in the comments that he "was really the only one willing to play the villain", which guarantees that he stays for the majority of the season, regardless of his quality of work.

I noticed the producers of these shows trolling the woodworking forums looking for people to compete.  This is not a short time investment like the show "Chopped" on the food network and I didn't see a single response to their posts on any of the forums where I participate.

The cow table didn't do anything for me. Loved Tim's table! Also Karly's with some clear epoxy poured in the "river" to eliminate the gap would have been cool.

I was trying to think during the whole show what would go well there too, and I couldn't come up w/ anything. Epoxy would yellow over time, no? Some custom acrylic would take forever to shape, though I guess they could have laser scanned it and used that CNC router.

Probably correct about the epoxy yellowing. I know they have some newer tech that is supposed to minimize that.

Great idea Darcy! Probably couldn't have gotten it tempered in the timeline they had, but the effect would have been cool.

Could have done the same thing with acrylic and flamed the edges so they were clear also.
