98 and 99  make more sense to me as  they are the reverse of each other for frames and  stiles.
I want to make a door  using  these two.

On what type of  woodworking would it be used?

It is used for making cabinet doors without needing to change cutters or altering the height of the spindle. You would set up the cutter in the spindle to cut the stick cut then shim the sled to cut the cope cut on the rails. It depends a lot on how you cut your cope cut. (sliding table on the shaper or a jig)

I have  a    cope and stile  cutter  for my dewalt  router  and have used it  on  the router table with success.

I've less experience  with  the shaper  or spindle moulder as its called  here in the UK. Its an electra beckum  machine. I've still got all my fingers. [big grin]
