My Jet spindle sander has served me well but the one thing that bugs me is there are no 3/4, 1, or 1-1/4 spindles available. The sander comes with 1/4, 1/2, 5/8, 1-1/2, and 2 inch spindles, and a 3 inch is available as an accessory. But there are no spindles that I can find in the sizes mentioned above.
Jet spindles are 5-1/2 inches long which is more than most except I did find that there is a Grizzly benchtop spindle sander that has 5-1/2" spindles and that comes with sanding drums in 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2" sizes.
I'm curious to know the ID of the Grizzly drums thinking I could mount them on some additional Jet spindles I would purchase from Jet if the Grizzly drums will fit. If anyone here has a Grizzly sander could you please measure the diameter of the spindle for me.
I don't know the Jet spindle size off hand but I will measure it the next time I go out in what is now my cold shop at 37°F. Glad I made an indoor workspace in the basement last year where the temp stays between 55F and 65F all year long without the need for AC or heat.
