splinter guard on rip guide doesn't stay stuck

the adhesive at the end points of attachment of the splinter guard tape on guides comes un-stuck. Is there a compatible adhesive (contact cement?) that will re-adhere it?

It works just fine.

Compatible with what?

It's about 1/64" thick.

The strip will be realigned once you run the saw on the rail. 

The other one that works well is ATG.

Try to avoid setting the rails on their ends.

You can use this tape to reset the strip.

You may want to cut the splinter guard back about an 1/8". This will help this from happening in the future.

Hi. Same thing happened to all my rails. I handle them carefully and they don't leave my shop. Once the ends of the splintergaurd started to come off, the rest of it came off eventually....I cleaned the rails where the splintergaurd goes with mineral spirits, let it flash and cleaned it really well. I used this tape from lee valleyhttp://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=56667&cat=1,110,43466 and it has worked very well. The tape is very thin..(see thru like skin) and put the old splintergaurd back on once I removed the old tape from the splinterguard. It worked very well and didn't effect the height as far as I can tell. Yes do trim the ends back a bit like was mentioned earlier in this thread so they don't touch the floor if you lean the rail against wall.

I have started doing this with my MFT rail - it's the only one that the splinterguards peel off.

Replace it with Makita splinter guard. That stays stuck with no peeling off at each end.

Hi. I see this thread has hit the top again....I meant to come back to this with an update, but forgot until I saw it again this morning. So.....while the lee valley tape fix worked for a while, once summer arrived and my shop was warm, (no AC) the splintergaurd started to come off at the ends again. I store my rails on a shelf sitting flat with splinterguard down....I left the rail leaning against the wall one day while working on a project, returned the next day, and splinterguard was half fallen off....ordered the makita splintergaurd cleaned rail ect...cut back ends and it still remains in tact...too bad I have a large box of festool splintergaurd still....maybe I can use it for weatherstripping for something...thinking I'll have to nail it on though..

I use bulldog clips like you use on a clipboard the fold back type clip one on each end then one in the middle fold back and leave them on in the rail bag if need be ,if I’ve got two rails I put them splinter guard to splinter guard and clamp them together works a treat . I also use makita strips too they are more like the older Festool strips which are a black rubber type material I personally prefer them to the clear current ones which seem very brittle to me , just my opinion , they do seem to stick quite well too

I remember the black festool splinter strips.  Those were excellent. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they changed, and have stayed with that change. 
I've since switched to the Makita brand splinter guards, and it does work well. 
But I also had a bunch of Festool clear guard left over as well.  For that I went ahead and purchase the ATG tape, per TJBNWI suggestion.  It has only been a few months since I installed that, but so far so good. 
I  do keep the ends of the guards cut back about a 1/4" from the ends. 
I have three rails, and they all live in my job trailer, which is not a gentle place for tools to live.

I started doing what svar suggested and have not had a problem with the splinter guard coming off so far
