Sprayer Recommendations

I've been toying with the idea of changing my sprayer setups. I have a mini mite 4 and a graco ultra handheld today.

I think the graco is going to need either a new nozzle or motor (already replaced the motor once), and the mini mite is fine, but loud (i mostly use this inside my house).

I started poking around at what options are available, and there seem to be too many good choices!

I looked at the Q5, but curious if anyone has any experience with Apollo or the Capspray. The Apollo goes up to 10psi and the Capspray 11.5 psi (is there much difference between that and 9.5psi of the Q5, or even the MM4). I know the latter aren't as quite as the Q5, but are the efficiency gains worth it? The capspray guns seem to have a lot of negative feedback.

For airless, is anyone using the GX19? thoughts?

Any other recommendations on what would be an ideal setup? I spray a lot of latex (ProClassic, Emerald Urethane, Advance) inside the home (trim, etc) and I use the target coatings for things like furniture and built ins that I build. I hate cleaning the airless, but can't always get the results I want with thicker stuff with the HVLP.

I spray everything, I've had an original Capspray, the better one, since the nineties.  I never had trouble with the original gun but bought a Fugi gravity gun a couple years ago and the adaptor to use the 3m cup system.  I also have a Titan 440i that I've had for as long as they have been available.  When I decided to repaint my kitchen, bath and dining room, 18' high walls, I bought Graco's pressure fed roller with and inline gun.  I just finished painting my shop walls and ceiling last week with that.  To reduce the paint kept in the hose when finished I bought a short hose as all the pressure sprayers come with 50'ers.  I also use a Graco Ultra and have had no problems with it.  I am neurotic about cleaning my equipment however and usually run a little acetone through my sprayers when done before prepping them for storage.  If I was going to upgrade my HVLP it would be the Graco or Titan.

I have the Sprayfine unit.  It seems very good and got good write-ups when I bought it about 4 years ago.  It has been reliable.

The entire setup was just under $500.00 when I bought it.  It is now $570.00.  It comes with a very long hose and I try to locate the blower (4-stage) as far from me as possible.  I think all of these sprayers are noisy. 

I used to spray PPG's Breakthrough, but the dealer could not stay in business during the pandemic.  I am now shooting Benjamin Moore's Advance (satin, mostly).  It has done a good job. 

I would prefer that the gun was gravity fed the reservoir gets in the way of my line of sight.  That is my only complaint so far.  I only shoot waterborne materials (1-2-3 primer and Advance).

If you have any interest in getting your paint pumped for the long haul I'd start at a Titan 440 or Graco 390. It pays to buy one size bigger pump than you think you'll need. Both can be found for less than $1000. If you want to sell it, either one of these will be out the door the next day when you list it on Craigslist.

Just my thoughts, I am big on quality over price. I have a Titan that I've rebuilt twice and it's 30 years old.

I also have a Appollo 1000 4 stage and the newer 7500 guns They aren't for thick latex just paints and clears, they'd make a great second rig if you can justify the expense.
