Stand for Kapex - Fastcap V2?

I've done some research into stands for the Kapex.  My Kapex will stay in the shop, for the most part, but I want to have the ability to set up on site; wheels aren't necessary.  The relatively new Fastcap V2 system looks pretty good and got some favorable comments in another recent thread on this general topic.  What do people who've used or seen it think of it?  I'm particularly considering the version for the Dewalt miter saw stand (DWX723).  For those of you using that version, do the Dewalt extensions hold up or do they flex under the weight of the Fastcap wings?  And do you need the entire Fastcap kit?  I'm thinking especially of the "precision adjustment blocks."  There are 4 of them in the kit and, at a cost of $75 each (even with the package discount), they add considerably to the price of the kit.  That said, they appear to be the mounting blocks for the wings, so perhaps there's no good way to avoid buying 4, assuming you want wings to the left and right.  I'm just looking for a reasonable way to reduce the price tag, if that's possible.

Thanks for any advice.

If you are keeping your Kapex in the shop, I think it is a waste of money to buy a stand. You need to MAKE one that suits your needs. Think MDF and T-tracks with cheaper stops and stick on tape measures. You could build the whole thing for $100 investment, and be totally happy. UGG stands, Sawhelper, Fastcap etc. are for jobsite use and because they offer portable precision, cost plenty. BTW, I have an MDF setup in my shop and a Sawhelper for the field.
Good luck!

I use the larger Dewalt stand with three saws( Kapex, 12"Dewalt, and Hitachi 8.5"). I bought extra brackets so I can use anyone of the saws depending upon need. I took the time to align all three saw fences with my homemade fences. I made my tables out of 3/4" mdo plywood with solid mahogany edging. I drilled three rows of 20mm holes to lighten the load and give me the ability to use the clamping elements and my other Festool clamps. I mounted aluminum plates to the Dewalt supports so that I could align and connect my tables to the stand not the saw. I guess it would be easier to show a picture of my rig. I'll take pictures next week when I'm back at that job. Spend some time to make continuous mitersaw tables with fences it will make your work go easier and more fun.
Cheers
Curt

Chris did you need to add the wood for uneven surfaces, because if you need it just on a level floor I may die laughing by the poor engineering.  I have the same stand and would consider buying them, but your needed mod has me thinking twice.  I really like how you have both the wide roller and regular supports, that setup looks money.

Thanks for the responses so far.  I'm still interested to hear from people who've used the Fastcap V2 fence system, especially on a Dewalt stand.

Curt, I look forward to your photos.

Chris, it is surprising that the Dewalt support legs don't extend more, but how do they work (1) on a level floor and (2) with your shop-made extensions?

Matt, I've seen your extension wings in another thread, and they're impressive.  I'll consider building something like that, but I would like something that is easy to assemble, disassemble, and move, since I'll be working in my garage and expect to take my Kapex to other sites from time to time.

Here are some pics of my homemade mitersaw tables.

The Best Fence is a nice system, I think you should get it..I am throwing down soon for the Bosch Stand version. Best deal is buying it with their stand, but either way, it's a nice system. It will definitely be more taut than the Festool wings. I plan on using my stand for finish work, but also for decks, framing etc and I figure the Best fence is the better option and cheaper. You can't beat the portability factor on the UG wings etc, but a) it comes at a price, and b) if it's mostly in a shop not as important c) I have heard some complain the Festool wings aren't wide enough.

If you own the Dewalt stand it will be strong, if not stronger than the stand on it's own and would be a nice compliment to your Kapex. I think the Kapex BFv2 isn't as nice with the upper hands. If you don't own the Dewalt, just get the BFv2 kit for $599 and call it a day. I have the Ryobi stand right now and it's the same stand as the BFv2 stand, and it's very good. I am just sick of it's limitations, and want more precision with some wings. However, the way the saw straps to the stand on the Ryobi (also the Best Fence) is fantastic. If I could retrofit my existing ryobi with the BFv2 I would. I have decided instead to go with the Bosch T4b stand, which folds like the UG, and the Best Fence v2 retrofit. I have looked closely at it, talked to Paul and my mind is made up that it's the best option out there when considering price, quality, functionality and overall value.
