Got the vac from an company closer auction, think i payed around 75$ for it and the rest is the CA-VA, systainer adaptor plate and some mounting parts

So overall, yes it is an low price.

Just to make people aware, Metabo do a Systainer (Metabox/Metaloc) adaptor plate, the Metadepot, for the earlier ASR2025/ASR2050 vacuums, part number 6 319 370 000 (https://skinflint.co.uk/metabo-metadepot-adapter-for-system-case-metaloc-631937000-a1925657.html). If you are in the UK they are £22.21 from Lawson-HIS (https://www.lawson-his.co.uk/metabo-631937000-metadepot-for-asa-2025). This directly fits the earlier Metabo vacs (which are rebadged Starmic vacuums) and may be an easier/cheaper fit than dismembering a Festool roll board. I have one of these on my ASR2025 and I know it will require some work to get one on top of my ASR35 - but it's cheap

So, what’s the trick to get the cover off the vac?
After removing the screws going into the cover through the red part, and removing the handle above and even undoing the screws that hold the safety catch, the cover still doesn’t want to come off (still sticking near the hinge).

Nevermind—found the last screw down low, centrally located, near the hinge!

It’s a little scary in there with the thumpers. They are just loose and ready to pop out.

One comment, before you get angry at it, just ditch the plastic bag in it. It is practical only for plaster work where the weight of the plaster forces it to the walls.

Second, learn to epty the bin when about 1/3 full. Otherwise the air can start gradually pulling previously collected dust into the vac. Most of the vertical space is needed for the air "cyclone" to do its job so it loses efficiency when filled up to 1/2 and more.

The Festool marketing pictures are unfortunately misleading on this, showing full bags of plaster and all that ...

Could a small hose be added to this rig to use the vacuum to keep the bag against the tub like Oneida does with the Ultimate Dust Deputy?

There are a couple ways to make it work, but it is just not worth it.

The way the cyclone works with wood dust is it "settles" it so there is really no issue with dust escaping when emptying it.

It makes sense with site plaster work as that can be a pain to empty and the weight of plaster forces the bag open as well. Probably why all the photos you see are with plaster in the bags ...
