Can anyone comment on the Starrett Duratec blades. I see that Woodpeckers has 3 packs of blades to fit popular saws on clearance and they have 111" blades which fit my Rikon 10-325 for $49.

But my thinking is if by Woodpeckers product description they are so good why do they have to clear them out at 30% off the original price. Must not be selling.

Never used any Starrett wood bandsaw blades but I have used their hacksaw blades and Porta-band blades and also for the Marvel vertical bandsaws and as I remember they gave us no problems.

For what it is worth, a buddy had/has Starretts on his bandsaw and has never said anything negative about them.

Maybe they don't sell because some might think of Starrett as a machinist tool brand and not a blade manufacturer ?

I have the Starrett 1/2” wide, 4 tooth hook blade in my Delta. I’m way impressed...it seems to be sharper and last longer than the Timber Wolf & Olson blades I’ve always used. It’s been working for the last 9 months or so.

Thanks for the link, I’m picking up a 3-pack for the Delta.  🙏🙏  [big grin]

Thanks for your replies. I guess I'll give them a try at that price.

Very happy with Starrett blades from Itura Design, but Duratec doesn't ring a bell. They may have different lines.

[member=31317]dlu[/member] , do you have an internet address for Iturra Design? I've been unable to locate them.

As others have said, they are invisible on the web, but they have a great catalog, good prices, and superb customer support. Call, don't e-mail -- they are nice people to talk to  :)

Well I just received the latest 2020 Iturra Design bandsaw catalog. It's 248 pages of bandsaw information & accessories specifically for 14" bandsaws although some of the information presented is useful on larger/smaller bandsaws. It's definitely a good read.  [big grin]

The interesting take away is that Louis Iturra recommends specific bandsaw blades from Starrett, Lennox & DoAll. He also recommends the standard carbon flex back Highland Wood Slicer/Iturra Blade Runner for resawing if you're not doing a lot of it. He states the carbon blades have a short life but I don't know what that means in hobbyist terms.

An interesting pick of his was the DoAll Bi-Metal TiN coated Penetrator for resawing. It's 1/2" wide, .025" thick and cuts as smooth as the Highland Wood Slicer but with several times the blade life. The TiN coating produces a hardness of up to 83 HRc and prevents corrosion from starting on the blade.

There is no website so if you need to get ahold of him these are the 3 methods.
