I recently upgraded my old midi for a new one, did the same with a few other tools too. When I was using my ts55r today with the midi I kept getting static shocks . I never had this with my old one.

When I bought the new midi the anti static hose was missing and I was sent one separately by the dealer. I fitted it myself which seemed simple , just a push fit or have I missed something ?

Yeah, just a push fit. Nothing special. I remove the hose from Festool vacs all the time.

Funny enough I never removed it once in the five years I owned it

I just thought maybe that it wasnt in right and that might stop the anti static part of the hose working

I would suggest you contact Festool UK.  I seem to remember a post by someone else here with that issue and with Festool's assistance it was rectified.

I  bought the ts55r and midi a few months back , first job I used it on I had a couple of static shocks when I touched the rail .Never happened since then, and haven't done anything different , just plonk saw on rail and cut ! Weird but there you go . Saw was also P.A.T tested and is fine

any chance that you were on an ungrounded outlet?

It was plugged into a brand new electrical circuit  in a house that I was fitting a kitchen, so it was definitely a good circuit.

I have experienced static shocks from my TS, but that was from an non-AS hose so that makes sence. What I can't get my head around is why the plug-it cord isn't grounded. Wouldn't it be best to have the saw grounded aswell? And maybe the rail/MFT too? I know basic electrics but when it comes to "static electricity" I'm a bit lost.  ???  [big grin]
