When an extractor gets blocked the air flow is reduced. The reduced airflow reduces the load on the motor, so it is actually working easier, but on cheap units the airflow also cools the motor so it can cause a burnout.
With Festool extractors and some of the better brands the motor is cooled by a separate fan and separate airflow so there is no possibility of a blockage causing a burnout.
In my case I was using a cheap Asian vac with an RO150 and the dust clogged the internal filter causing the plastic vac to burst into flames under my bench.
That only needed to happen once and I immediately went and bought a CT36 and chucked all of the other cheap vacs.
