Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a steam cleaner for cleaning household areas like kitchens and bathrooms?

if no one here used any before, why not check amazons and read through the reviews and see if any good stuff comes up

I have the compact Karcher, model SC1122 (two or three years old now).

(1400W, 3.0 bar, 1.2 litre capacity - mine's a 240V model)

I'm very pleased with it. Came with a range of tools/fittings/accessories, although I've mostly only used the "jet-nozzle" and it's always been powerful enough for the domestic tasks I've encountered. Have also used it on occasion to clean a car engine bay or drive train before working on it (though to be fair, I usually only mess with small vehicles - typically race cars - and they are not exactly filthy to start with...).

I had wondered if the 1.2 litre capacity would be a bit small, but unless you are using this for commercial or industrial tasks, 1 litre of water does makes one heck of lot of steam...

It's nicely made and finished, seems to be robust; the plastic two-part tubes are pleasingly well-made and very sturdy.

Size-wise, the whole kit very very nearly fits into a SYS-5 (I don't have one to try, but going by the measurements, it's so close I'm tempted to buy a SYS-5 just to try it...!

I finally decided on a steam cleaner.  I got a McCulloch 1275:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000DF0RB/.

It can hold 48 oz of water, which produces plenty of steam!  I'm a little embarrassed to show how dirty the counter was, but it did an absolutely marvelous job of cleaning off the built up grease on the granite behind the downdraft exhaust fan.

My only complaint is that it seems to "spit or gurgle" out water if it sits for a while.  I assume that's somewhat normal as the steam in the hose must be condensing in the hose/nozzle.
