A systainer 5 is $80 and a dust deputy is what,  $100(?)....and then you have to make the mod.  Not sure you save that much money (if any).

No, the new Systainer-like bucket from Oneida is $169.  With the cyclone and a hose to connect it to your CT, $229.  These prices are for their Systainer-like bucket either by itself or in the complete kit.  They also offer a metal and plastic drum-style buckets too, but that doesn't pertain to this discussion as much...

Corwin, I think Deansocial was talking about taking an ordinary sys 5 ($80) and buying an ordinary DD Cyclone and making his own by drilling a big hole in the top.  No?

i was actully thinking of getting an old dyson hoover and using the cyclone fro that and a sys 5

Exactly!  But to compare that to Oneida's $100 package seemed odd to me.  I thought he was comparing it to the new Systainer-like bucket that you provided a link to...

I must say I read this post with a lot of interest. In SA we PAY for Festool. $200 for a re-useable bag sounds great to me compared to what you guys earn.
Here we pay R 1 295.00 To put that into context for you, a qualified carpenter here earns between R 2 500.00 and R 3 500.00 per month. In some companies (very few) they may earn as much as R 6 000.00 per month.

A Domino will cost around R 10 000.00. MFT 1080 R 7 500.00. ETS Sander 150/3 R 6 150.00. All in Systainers of course. Will you buy a power tool that costs more than you earn in a month?

By the way, the ETS Sander is sold on Festool Junkie for $ 285.00 = R 2 137.50 @ current exchange rate. So why do we pay 3 x the price?

All I'm saying is be happy. You could be living with our prices!  [scared]  ;D

i am in the same boat as you tigger.

the long life bag for the ct-22 costs US$365 here in australia.

i buy all my accessories from ebay uk and ship them over.

it still works out cheaper than buying locally.........

Another alternative to Oneida's Dust Deputy is to make you own Thien Cyclone Separator Lid.  Either option will save you money up front over purchasing a Festool long-life bag.

for all having to pay more for their festools and other imported goods is it your government imposing high import duty's as fare as i am aware South Africa has high import duty's. and imported cars attract a high tariff in Australia.

Thats what I thought,  but I get charged a 5% import duty at customs when I pick up my Festool plus 14% VAT!?! Go figure.
If I use a private courier company, it gets delivered to my door and I don't pay anything extra!!!! Figure that one
