Hope this is the right place to post this. I've got a Mitutoyo caliper that is about 10 years old. I bought it new, but never really used it until recently. Probably because it sat for so long, it is very hard to slide. How do I get the action back up to par?

I am guessing it a linear not digital caliper soI would suggest separating the two pieces and give them a good cleaning, the slide has gummed up from lack of use for sure. Might want to spray some WD40 on it and then wipe it down lightly when you have it back together and cleaned. If you cant separate them open it as far as you can and clean the slides off
