I am a contractor in Ellis County Texas ( 20 miles south of Dallas) and specialize in Chruch constuction. Sunday night the Church i am working in was broken into and all my tools were stolen. 95% of them were Festool as they are the best for high end woodwork.
I lost $14000 to $16000 of tools and blades. track saws many sanders two carved jig saws oscillator saws routers dust collectors, 3 18v drill sets with installer bit sets. my work has had to stop as i replace these tools.

THESE TOOLS ARE NOT COMMON IN THIS AREA SO THE THIEF WILL BE NOTICED IS WE KEEP AND EYE OUT
THANK YOU DAVE

Hey Dave, I will definitely be keeping a look out. I live in Red Oak and have a good collection of Festool myself.
I'm assuming you have registered all your tools, so you should have all the serial numbers. This will help if they try to pawn.
My guess is they will hit the streets and try to sell to contractors directly. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss.  If you registered your tools you should also let FESTOOL know.i don't know if they still do so but they used to be able to do something to flag your serial numbers.

Peter & [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member]  - doesn't Festool UK do something like that as part of their 3yr guarantee ?  I thought there was some sort of theft protection rolled into that over there.

Sorry for your loss. That to me is one of the lowest crimes. He basically stole your livelihood until you can replace the tools.

Were the tools marked in anyway? Maybe you won't want to mention that here or anywhere else in a public setting if the markings are not readily visible so they are not removed.

I'd watch Craig's List and eBay and flea markets, even yard sales. Hard to keep track of yard sales but when you see one take a glance. I visit local flea markets occasionally looking for old planes to add to my collection and sometimes you see some questionable tools. I have played along at times trying to feel them out and see if they know what they are selling or not. So far have only called police once and advised them that something didn't smell right and asked if anyone had reported stolen tools lately.

I will keep an eye out on Houston's Craigslist and let you know if they show up.

I'd check the pawn shops in the area where they were stolen and put them on notice to be on the lookout for stolen Festool.
