Storing 2" Power Driver Bits?

Like so many other installers and maintenance people, I've jumped on the small impact driver bandwagon.

These small drivers, the 10.8v Makita, 12v Bosch, etc. are great, except they have no provision for onboard bit storage, and I've had a rough time finding any pocket sized ways to carry a few bits along at the jobsite.

What solutions have the ingenious members of FOG come up with?  Are there commercial products that I haven't come across that accomplish the task well?

Help!?!

You might want to investigate a photo shop or photo lab for some old 35mm film containers.  Kodak made them in gray and black which precluded seeing what was inside, but Fuji made them in a nearly clear plastic.  They're great for small parts, and one can carry a small film can in the pocket with no great effort.

My CT with systainers is always nearby. Bits are either in the drill sys or one of my sys with colored box inserts. I don't really want another option, just me.

I use empty Altoids Mints tins.  They're free, slip into a pants or jacket pocket, and can hold a boat-load of bits.

I've done the altoids tins, the tic-tac cartons, etc. They all work relatively well, but leave me sorting thru my bits to find the one I need. Every time I'm digging through the bits looking for a PZ2 driver instead of a P2 I find myself thinking "there must be a better way".

While I understand the point about leaving your bits in the systainer, those aren't often at my fingertips when I need to switch from hanging cabinets to reinstalling switch covers.  Old timers have pounded the "less walking, less talking, more money" rule into my head, and I'm hoping to speed the changes along.

Thanks for all the feedback!

You could try something like this:

[attachthumb=#]

It's a new product over here, and probably NAINA, at least not yet. Maybe Shane could let you know if it's likely at any point? I'm sure someone else will make something similar - it may even be made by someone else & badged for Festool.

It's shown with 1" bits, but I'm sure 2" would be OK in there too.

BTW, the webpage isn't working correctly, that's why I've posted this image rather than a link. If you want to check later, it's on the bottom half of This Page.

Jonny,

That's exactly the type of product I'm seeking, though in 2" capacity.  It seems perfect for 1" bits, but the 2" might be a little sharp..

Mine end up in my change pocket, then in the washing machine, then back in the toolbag/Sysbox until their next journey.  I like to keep bits in my colored boxes for the screws they hold.

I bought a fancy GRK Clip on Bit Box which was a great idea, except I broke it the first day using it.

Am I the only one who is sick of listening to my impact driver?  As soon as Festool releases the C12 with LED or CXS I'm going retro.

I haven't used this myself, but I saw something similar to this thing as a special offer for a short while in one of the stores I frequent and I sometimes wish I would have gotten one:

Tool Band-it
I always wear workpants with lots of pockets and I reserved one for extra bits, or bits that are to long for the on-tool storage (I don't use the small drivers).
