Stuck Router bit and collett in my OF 1400 router

I have loosened the collett on my router but can not get the collett and router bit out of my router

You say 'loosened', have you completely undone the nut?

What Keith means is that there are two stages to undoing Festool collets (and most others). The first stage loosens the nut from its grip on the collet and the second part is when the continued loosening causes the collet to release from the bit. In between the two stages the nut is free to move with your fingers.

I just watched Festool Live yesterday about OF 1010 and Sedge said this happens from inserting the bit all the way. I guess as it heats up it can get bound up so he suggested to bottom the bit and then pull it back just a bit to avoid this. He said you’d need a puller to remove the bit but I’m not sure what kind of puller he’s referring to...

I think it was from a Sommerfeld video I placed a small o-ring in the bottom of the collet.

I learned the o ring in the bottom of the collet years ago from an article in Fine Woodworking, I now just pull the bit up a bit after inserting.

Sprayed some PB Blaster on it and let it sit over night.  Bought a $12 puller at Harbor Freight and it popped off.  Thanks for the inputs

I had this happen years ago the first time I used my new Elu router. This was way before the internet, so no help was to be had. I finally worked out that removing the nut entirely was the key; and somehow found out not to let the bit bottom out in the collet.

A simple tap on the side of the collet with the wrench will pop it free.
